    I am actually looking forward to the new ability's smn is getting. Besides what's the use of getting more egi that people who play smn like myself are probably never going to use. I think se learned its lesson that more egi is not what's needed in this game. Look at what's happening now with smn the majority of smn don't even use 2 of the 3 egi we already have. It's usually garuda and nothing else. I never see anyone not even myself use ifrit. Titan is usually only used while playing solo or if the tank died. So yah what's the point with more egi.

    I really wish people would stop using this argument about people only ever use garuda so new egis would be worthless. These forums have been FULL of suggestions for how to fix the balance between the pets for years and they're fairly simple solutions. If SE chose not to give new pets to a pet class, when they'd already expressly announced them, then it was because they were either lazy or lacked imagination. There were plenty of ways to change garuda and ifrit so that leviathan and ramuh had roles to fill.

    For the record I actually like the new skills, I just think it's a bit silly to have the focus switching even further away from the pet when the forums have been filled since release with people wanting the opposite.

    Not to mention that claim is more a personal choice and there are plenty in the forums who actually play end-game SMN and will tell you how much better Ifirt is. Both him and Garuda have their uses and should be swapped out accordingly based on the fight and team comp.

    But anywho this is a very over beaten dead horse. There were 4-6 threads that appeared when SMN abilities were announced for 3.0 alone of this same topic plus the many others already here. If there were more suggestions for actually helping the egis maybe egis would get some love, but most feedback I've seen that has not revolved around 'egis suck, make him FF# SMN instead' or the Aesthetics of the egis were complaints about their AoE, Burst, Tri-Disaster being a very situation spell and MP management, 2 and a half of which are being solved as of 3.0, another of which gotten tweaks to help it out a few patches ago.

    With the egis being in an awkward place as they are(their abilities follow the same pattern with only 1 really standing out from the rest), better to improve them first any who than add more on top of them to make the first 3 irrelevant.

    Not to mention "traditional summoners", including FF10's, did not just revolve around their Summons mechanics wise. In most of the games any and everyone could use a summon. In the games were Summoner was an actual role, most of the times they were melded together with BLM(FF6) or WHM(FF10/FF9). Summoners were mainly very pretty AoE Magic.

    The point of the Egi is it's suppose to be what a Summoner is but they implemented like hell.
    It's no one else's fault but the dev's to place a summon better than the other one. It was their job to figure out a balance so no summon is left behind.
    I also don't like playing Dot Dot goose all damn day either when I can do that on SCH and heal!

    I will say these here changes will make people play SMN more, let's face it, that's one of the least played jobs next to MNK.
    It's overwhelmingly boring and I hoped for more pets. I've come to accept change and try this new SMN even though I said before I wouldn't.
    I'ma wait and see how pet's play later on, but it did need SOMETHING for the time being. Hopefully this fills a bit of fun
    for people until they solve the pet situation.
