If you liked the aesthetician, you'll probably love the HIldebrandt quest line. ^^ It's a sidequest, so not mandatory, but Hildy is hilarious, as well as opening rather fun trials. He's only unlocked once you've hit level 50, though (in Ul Dah).

    Welcome to Eorzea!

Not to mention Jandelaine gets revisited during the Moogle Mail quests, a series of quests that are PURE fluff, but fun fluff.

I feel as though it could have been made in to a single quest chain with one step at a time so it doesn't feel as overwhelming and I don't have to backtrack as much.
You ever play a Final Fantasy Game before? lol. This is one staple they have yet to break in all their 25+ years of JRPG history.

Final Fantasy games are very storycentric, so to be honest you pretty much have to expect a lot of text for the story.

Agree with the GCD that when you are starting out it does seem slow, but when you get more and more skills plus skills that can weaved between the GCDs then add on having to dodge mechanics then it becomes perfectly fine.

But welcome to Eorzea and stick with it

Also not all servers are plagued by continuos gil speller spam, on Odin it's pretty rare. But I wouldn't be surprised if gil sellers target more the players under a certain level. not 100% on that tho.

As far as the 2.5 global cooldown is concerned, it's meant to be a balance between fast gameplay and keeping the battle system more in line with traditional FF games which were turn based. FFXIV's battle system, is actually fast compared to FFXI which has a battle system that crawls along at is a snail's pace where you just keep yourself on autoattack trading biffo with the enemy slowly building up TP to let rip with a weapon skill.

SE already stated their reasons for the global cooldown back in Beta and it's pretty clear this won't be changed. It's easy enough to condition yourself to pause for two seconds when hitting abilities to compensate for the gcd.

Thanks for the reply! I am a firm believer in leaving constructive feedback, I don't like resorting to personal insults or whining!

I know the combat in FFXI was slow, but that doesn't make it ok in this game! It's not a dealbreaker for me, I've kind of adapted to it at this point.

As you get more skills you'll awesome be getting a good couple off GCD ones which can fill inbetween (if it isn't something you need IE one of the Paladin oGCD also acts a silence, though many fights you can just use it right away.) While the starting levels do indeed feel slow things become much better later on IMO.

The problem with 2.5 sec GCD is that it feels like it's designed for an 80 year old.. Yet, the game expects you to move around like a teenager at times.

So when I'm in combat, I'm basically moving around, stutter stepping like a mad man but I can't cast any skills so I'm auto attacking half the time

I keep myself entertained by going in circles around every mob I fight, doing mini jumping puzzles while fighting etc...

About the gear rewards from quests... it's not like in WOW where quest rewards are unique and quite good and you end up replacing most of your gear every other level, the only rewards you get are the same as standard-quality stuff you can either craft yourself or just buy from NPCs. Pretty much every hub zone has an NPC who sells level-appropriate NQ gear, but the gear curve is pretty low so if you get any drops from dungeons they're usually good for 5-10 levels anyway.

The only time you ever get anything genuinely unique from quests is at levels 45 and 50 when you get your job-specific armour set, and you get given the entire set anyway with no need to pick and choose. The rest of the time you're basically just choosing whichever piece of vendor trash you've replaced least recently, and you can just buy everything else from a vendor stood nearby anyway.

I agree with some parts, but I really agree with the 2,5 seconds gcd. The fights ARE slow and that is something I was hoping they would change with the expansion but I haven't heard anything about it.

I really feel like XI was a lot slower than this game is combat-wise. That is... unless you're a mage, which maybe it's a little faster if you take out the time it took to find a spell in the spell list though macros made that a little easier. Of course I'm talking about what I recall from a while back.. like Treasures of Aht Urhgan expansion a while back so there might be stuff I don't recall as well or maybe things were sped up a little since then.

I don't agree with a bit of what you wrote but I do think RMT management would be nice to have.

Welcome to the FFXIV community all the same though.
