    Joint Class Abilities

    I was remembering days of old and the old 1.0 intro where the Malboro Fight took place when the ARC and the CNJ joined up and created a flaming arrow to fire off into his gaping jaws.

    it got me thinking why dont we have any teamwork combos, i dont mean like FFXI's skill chains, but like bonus combos where all DPS can combine an ability with anothers.

    like a BLM and DRG could mix thunder and jump off the top of my head and make lightening rod. where the DRGS lance shoots down onto the boss and actes like a conductor.

    BLM and WHM with Fire and Aero to make fire tornado.

    it would bring in the teamwork to a more personal level IMO

    I've always liked XI's skillchains and magic bursts. It gave teams more interplay between jobs rather than everyone doing their own individual thing. While I honestly think it would be amazing if we could have something similar in XIV, I just can't imagine how it would work with the current system. With each class skill relying on a specific rotation, it would be counterpoint to change it up for a team combination.

    Maybe a frenzy stacking system where the names on the char glow when we've reached our stacks.
    this would allow players to see who is frenzied and join in on the skill

    for example a Macro would come from the Brd saying "using Blood letter"
    with this would give the next job a small window to use their skill also,
    for example as the blood letter animation starts, a blm can hit a chain button then the required spell, which would cast a flame onto the arrow and hit the Mob for +DMG

    Hmm, looking at the old CNJ spell list there was no spell that gave an allies weapon fire element. Ever the skill that was dropped after the opening was already finished or was planned to come later.

    It was the Intro I was talking about TBH, I used the BRD and BLM reference just to bring it up to speed, it was a CNJ she runs in and throws a shield up, then progresses to use blizzard, the GLA also heals the ARC's wounds with a cure spell, but i wasn't going on about cross class skills i was trying to make a point of the Joint class ability to put a flame onto the Arrow and fire it off at the beast.

    There is precedence in the series for it, but I agree with Lemuria; I think it would be a struggle to to fit it into the game now since the combat system wasn't designed around it. There would also need to be dozens and dozens of differing skill combos to accommodate any party make up or else risk certain parties missing out on this feature and balancing them all would be tricky.

    That said, If Square wants to do it, I'm all for it :P I enjoyed Skill chains in FFXI and Crystal Chronicles.

    The problem with that is that you then need x + y class in your raid. The current limit break is a contribution for everyone so it's sort of a party thing but one person triggers it. We have new job LB animations so that might help a little. Look at the HW benchmark for some of them.

    I started FF14 at 2.x beta but I would have loved to have a look at 1.x. The problem from what we've been told is that 1.x was all flashy but most things, like this LB thing, just weren't practical in a real setting.

    What I could see maybe is something like the trinity attack in Type-0. Maybe under certain conditions more than one party member could use LB at the same time. Like if there is more than one gauge filled up. If you can press the LB button quickly enough instead of one level 2 LB, two level 1 LBs are cast, but buff each other somehow, to make them more poewrful than a standard level 2 LB. Or maybe combine the effects and make the level 1 caster LB. hit each mob in the aoe circle with the force of a level 1 melee LB
