Loot drop is a reward for completing the content.

Whether you tackle the content in full iLv 130 gear, or whether you do it with barely iLv 90 gear, the server considers you all to have contributed equally to the completion. Hence you all have equal claim to the loot.

The buttons might as well read "Type A Claim", "Type B Claim", and "Forfeit Claim".

You do not have higher claim just because you have worse gear. The others did not get their better gear for doing nothing. Those better gear are rewards for doing something else unrelated to the current content, hence it should in no way affect their claim on the current loot.

    Here's an analogy for you:

There are some bricks that need to be carried to some place. You and PlayerA both come and sign up for the job. At the end of the day, you and PlayerA each receive $100 for your work. What you're doing is saying, "PlayerA is much stronger than I am, I need the money for supplements, I should get paid more!"

It's fine to ask for kindness. It's a disgrace to disguise that request in the name of fairness.

God, enough of these threads. I get that it can be frustrating to lose a piece you want, but you are not more entitled to loot than anyone else who put in effort to run the instance.

This is why gear turn in and crafting destruction have been dumb in every game they have ever been put in.
As a healer, if you roll greed for a piece against another healer, they will roll need and get the piece. If you greed on a caster piece, a caster will need it over you, and so on for any other class. You probably won't land a piece at all. Are there other ways to get seals? Absolutely, but with the nature of the game, you are encouraged to run dungeons for many reasons, roulettes, weekly, books, lights, and if you are running this content as a healer or tank class, queue times are short and you find yourself without much time in the open world. Do you consider me rude for playing a healer class with short queue times and running content in a way that allows me to progress on multiple fronts simultaneously, or am I expected to run fates exclusively whenever I have the need for seals? That would be a very inefficient use of my time, time that I'm entitled to for running dungeons and rolling on loot as much as the next fellow.

Just because you will get an iLevel increase from a piece of gear doesn't mean you should get any priority over someone who is going to use it as glamour.

Look at it from the other side. The other person could have run the dungeon 60 times trying to get this piece for his glamour only to have somebody roll on it when they are going to replace it in a day or two with something better.

Even if someone is going to turn it in for grand company seals it's still their right. Anyone who has a zodiak or lucis should know how much of a pain it is to acquire the needed seals. If you gave every piece of armor that drops to other players that "needed it" you would progress very slowly.

Regardless of the reason for lotting on the gear, you should have equal rights to the loot because you are investing your time to beat the content.

An alternative to this issue would be everyone in party gets a currency from chest and can go to a vendor and purchase anything from loot table if they were there when a boss died and got a character flag.

I cringe a little any time I see someone who clearly needs the gear for a substantial upgrade loses it to a Need roll by someone already decked out. This happens to new players in dungeons by level 50s who want the Grand Company seals from armor turn-ins, and it happens to people at 50 who need gear upgrades for higher item level / stat upgrades for progression by people already decked out.

I understand that you can't really enforce it, there are lower iLevel items that are better than higher iLevel items, and being able to pick up stuff you don't necessarily "need" incentivizes doing trivial content, but it's still kind of discouraging for players when the piece they actually need for character progression is swiped by someone just for glamour / seals. While I don't like loot lockouts, they are fantastic about making sure gear actually falls into the hands of people who really "need" it.

Not to mention, the seals it takes to keep on crafting certain items, or the amount of seals it takes to keep up 3-4 retainers.

I hate to say this.. but the solution here is already in the game. Premake your group and you can set your own loot rules. When you use DF you are slaved to the 'fair system' that is in place. The reason I say fair in quotes there is because it is unfair to everyone.. thus making it fair in the end.

I know places like CT are hard to do with a premade.. but it is possible with a bit of syncing. The hardpart of course is finding 23 others.

Tomestones are a similar thing, are they not? The gear may or may not be BiS, but it is there as an alternative.

The Game literally throws gear at you though and If you don't get anything from a dungeon there's a perfectly good marketboard they can buy gear from while you are leveling, and if you are 50, the game throws soldiery at you, which is enough to do 99% of the content in the game. And don't tell me they can't afford a few pieces of gear here and there, the game throws gil at you too.
