You have a point, maybe that guy trully loves that set and has been farming it since forever. Even that rolling need for desynth/seals is just meanWell OP, what you are saying is that you want YOUR reason for getting the gear to have priority over other reasons. Gear drops can be used to wear, for glamour, for desynth, or to turn in for seals. All are valid and SE doesn't need to make a change to prioritize to your playing style over that of others.

Possibly a reportable offence? Sounds like you stumbled into a partial preformed group that had their own loot rules (which shouldn't apply to you).Later that day I got voted out of Syrcus Tower for greeding (and winning) a piece of DRG gear that I could use. How do I know that's why I got voted out? My friend in the group asked why I got voted and they said it was because I took the DRG gear when I didn't need it. I was on my BRD, all my classes are 50 and I could actually use the piece. People are awesome!
/irrelevant rant over
Rolling for desynth and seals is perfectly valid, that player may be progressing on their zodiac weapon, which requires both desynth materials and a lot of GC seals. If you were just a couple pieces worth of seals away from affording the last mat for your zodiac, couldn't you see the value of rolling need on a piece?
You can only roll need by virtue of being able to wear the item, though? It would be a lot easier for everyone if people just admit they roll need for non wearing purposes because they don't want to have competition on the roll. This is why gear turn in and crafting destruction have been dumb in every game they have ever been put in.Rolling for desynth and seals is perfectly valid, that player may be progressing on their zodiac weapon, which requires both desynth materials and a lot of GC seals. There are other ways to get those items without going to dungeon and try to hoard all the loot

wait a sec...

I have a three-stage solution to the OP's problem:
1) shut your pie hole
2) roll better
3) deal with it
The only thing which "need" means in terms of DF groups is "I am able to equip this item on the class I queued as, and I don't already have one of it if it's a unique item". Your reason for "needing" something is no more valid than anyone else who can need on it.
In my view rolling for glamour is a want, not a need. Therefore should lotting for glamour should be using greed.
People are okay with any item that can be used for desynth/seals even if it can't be used for their jobs
The gear that you can get without dungeon it's worse that the gear that the dungeon gear and they need that the item can be used for his job. But the best ways to farm demimateria/seals don't include going to dungeons
The greed button is called greed for a reason, you don't need that item, you are just being greedy about what you can get with that item (demimateria/seals)
Not this again....
Do we really need to have a topic about "limiting" peoples ability to get gear other then to wear it (despite said gear having multiple uses) every time someone loses a roll ingame?
