That's why Summoner doesn't summon Primals though, it summons Egis.People criticizing summoner based on this, in a game where not only the act of summoning is a plot point, but the entities themselves are directly driving the events of the story and vehemently hate you...I really don't know what you're looking for. Yes, you should probably just play a different class. It flies in the face of the whole premise of FFXIV.
Except it doesn't summon Egis. It summons an Egi and that Egi is the only thing it'll ever really summon, instead of having it so we cycle through Egis like every other Job cycles through its rotation.

Would be great if we had a spell... "Swift Summon" where we could instant-cast draw a new Summon out without exhausting our Swiftcast (also, SSummon would be on a much shorter CD).
It could cost 1 Aetherflow, be separated from the GCD. Then, we'd just need more finely established niches/roles for the Egi's... it'd be awesome to have more of a reason to use Titan Egi in group content. Like maybe it can be a "supportive off-offtank" where it can soak some damage for the chosen target & lay down minor, temporary mitigation field(s). Garuda for single-target & Ifrit for multi-target. Something along those lines.

Channeling Bahamuts power...ok
So you click "Bahamut Stance" you see his face flash for a split second showing that you changed stances, now you have a handful of direct damage abilities to use.
How are people going ga-ga over this?
Does it sound cool yes, but its not like were going to be turning into a 1000 foot dragon, or grow wings or anything.
I can deal with no new egis, whatever, just make them better, do you know how many times my garuda dies during the final boss of keeper of the lake, or any other intense fight for that matter? Yes I also have to stop my rotation to sit there and spam the pet heal and use physick to keep my egis up, its just dumb.
They said they were going to "rework" summoners, they changed a spell's name and called it a day.

Exactly what makes this any different than any Black Mage spell, its not like this thing is a devastating 9,999,999 attack that blows up part of the land, its simply a pillar of light. But I guess ooo shiny!

Those who know about Akh Morn most likely has either beaten T13, are super close to beating it, or plan on doing so at some point. Seriously after Teraflare once I saw this move come out I was hype, I was ready, I could feel the win on my tongue.....and then we wiped soon after and the DF party disbanded lol. (Moving on lol) Its one of the biggest, baddest primals' strongest move out there for you to now use.
Call it silly if ya want but hell yeah am I hype for this lol
EDIT:I had to add on to this~
Very true, I also use a controller for my SMN and avoiding pet dmg is def doable with those two. You can either place them smartly and use sustain (Titan fights make great use of this when Ruru is off the ledge still doing damage.) or even for when you want to move them, clever use of Heel also does the trick. In Keeper specifically, you know where the boss' biggest hits are so hit that heel button and once they are back where you are in a safe spot hit obey and resume as normal. Its a good idea for you to preemptively move anyway as to not interrupt spell casting too much, so kill 2 birds with one stone and have Ruru tag alone. Iffy unfortunately you'll have to time it but its not too hard to do.You want to keep your Egi alive, correct? Then make use of those two skills to keep it alive. You can command your pet while moving and also weaving it between GCDs. If I can do it on the controller, then you can as well.
Edit-Edit:
Rarely. Smartly place the Egi in the correct place and they won't take too much damage. Sustain for unavoidable AoEs. Excuses, excuses.
In terms of adding on competing in dps.....that shouldnt be a big worry in Keeper of the Lake honestly and in high raid content where you may be more so worried about dps there's not much of moving that needs to be done for your pet. Place and Sustain is all that's needed, sometimes just one is needed.
