If i remember it right, they only said that we don't get new pets without a level cap increase.
That with the Bahamut skill can be a "back to the roots" for SMN. Instead of a pet the Summoner summon a deity for a strong single attack, only without a 5 minute cutscene and without the deity showing up.
I think all new skills they showed on summoner in the live letter are summoner skills.

Sucks that we're not getting new egis, but if the new abilities the current ones are getting will actually make it so it's a toss up who I summon in a given dungeon situation as opposed to Always Garuda, I'd rather have that then two more egis I'm going to completely ignore.

NO, those are more "nuker" skills... i am playing a SMN job so i want my Summon to be my MAIN weapon and source of DPS... neither a DOT job as ARC.... i want new ways to heal/support my pet... i want my pet to look GOOD, i dont care about the size but even primal weapons have better desings and effects compare to our egis... "nukes" are not SMN skills... may SE need to check how SMN play in other older MMOs like L2



The only Egi that needs a re-work is Ifrit. They buffed him, but he's still not nearly as viable as Garuda to dps with.
I love Titan. I use him for pretty much anything open world related that I will solo or duo with a non-tank and I have since I got him. He's a great tank pet. Hell I've even used him to tank dungeons when the tank player happens to bail or get kicked. They just need to make pets easier for healers to target and you wouldn't even need a tank.
I'm perfectly fine with the Smn info and needless to say knew it'd be a ----storm on the forums the moment they announced no new egis. Like we really need new egis when you think about it. We have egis that do everything we can want them to do.
I will look forward to being able to change the looks of our egis if that ever becomes a thing though.


then you never played the older FF's which is what this summon is based on which is why it's summon is only some of it's dps unlike FF11 which changed summons to actually be useful.

I can live with no new egis if we get a egi glam system, but the whole reworking of the class being a simple name change is just stupid, i expected the mechanics to change as did most everyone else

From what I gather there'll be 2 types of tri disaster:
1. The one we have now will be the same: Binds people
2. Tri-disaster (at a later level?) is a spell that inflicts bio,bio2,miasma on a target
Assuming #2 is true, then that's quite a nice boost as a SMN, since casting bio,bio2,miasma can take a while. This will mean that I can cast Tri disaster2 and then bane. Then cast Tri-disaster2 on individual mobs

The ONLY way to do damage as SMN in any FF (like FFIII) was Summoning something.... dunno what ur talking about

p.s.s i forgot about 4 rydia's summons were horrible compared to her op black magic
