I don't think there is any Internet hub that could support a data center more Eastern than Germany.

I really hope this is the case cause like OP I have an FC and a medium house and it took me soo long to save up for it and all the furniture inside.
Luckily we got like 5 active players in my fc so that isn't a problem, but i'd have to stay in the canada server if i can't move my house with me

A lot of MMOs (off the top of my head I can name WoW, Rift and WildStar) with an EU datacenter have it located in Frankfurt, Germany. I don't know why, but I imagine they might actually have good infrastructure right there for some reason. It is not unreasonable to assume, until we're told otherwise, that FF14 will also get put in Frankfurt.

It is unreasonable to assume that, as this is SE we are dealing with not other MMO companies, do other MMO companies put servers on the east coast of canada?

What if they get worried about eastern russians not having a good connection to the english speaking datacentre, russia is also in europe.

Based on past history making a sensible assumption about the datacentre would be a bad idea.

You are wrong OP. The only EU was the Ragnarok when appeared, everything else wasn't. I was in Mysidia that became Gungnir where only 10% or less was EU. I had over 200 friends and I didn't transfer in the first opportunity (when they released) because I wanted to see if this could get better but didn't. 2 Months later I think the second opportunity came but it was only for people wanted to move to Ragnarok this time, myself and some ls members moved and we noticed how lively was in EU peak instantly, even having less playerbase in the server. We made new friends and a new LS and we become one of the best LS at that time.

A realm Reborn beta come and everyone get chance to move to the servers they wish even later with open beta and Sargatanas was already labeled as NA by that time so was your own fault to not move when they offered chances to transfer for free without any restriction.

But don't worry, I believe they will give players an opportunity to move again in the first weeks for free and maybe without restrictions, if not, too bad and deal with it.
About your friend with 700M he can just buy a lot of some materials or materias or something valuable and then resell in the new server. He can lose some of the gil due value in current server not being the same or gain if values more. Like the Master Demimateria for crafting cost around 140-150k here atm but may worth more in other server.

About the server Chaos going to the new EU located server we won't have to worry. They will just transfer the whole thing there.

Well... Pretty sure we already know the place. Why are they doing a producer letter in Nantes, France, since this city is not really known, and there is no special event related to video games at Nantes?
My two gils thaat Eu servers will be placed there.

It's unreasonable to assume that they will pick a place with terrible Internet connection, when there are already cities considered as Internet Hubs with outstanding connectivity and prepared housings for data centers.

The point that some people are missing is that there was no word of EU datacenter at launch. Yeah, so Ragnarok was branded as a "kind of" EU server, but everyone knew it was in Canada, so there was no real difference. Prior to London Fanfest last year, Yoshida never said they were even considering setting up shop in Europe. There was no reason to believe this situation would ever change. As such, SE does indeed have an abligation before EU players on NA servers to set things right.

And yet they did. At 2.0 launch there was several server marked EU, before that it was only Ragnarok. To SE it was not a "kind of" thing.
People only assumed there would be no "real" EU servers, SE never said they wouldn't make it happen at some point. The problem is not on their end it's on the end of the players that interpreted it like that.

When my LS decided to move from Trabia to Ragnarok. The fact that SE might add a datacenter in Europe in the future was considered, so I don't think it was so unpredictable.

But even so I think SE will allow free transfer to EU servers for a short while when they create the new datacenter, but I wouldn't hope for FC house or FC itself to be carried over. Would be already nice if the gils were kept during the transfer.
