Fair points. Problem would be moot if SE would just stop trying to shove all the content on everyone. Well not all, but most of the content.

Make more things to do that are not tied to the main quest and have it be completely optional and a lot of the 'nerf it nao' crowd wouldn't have a leg to stand on. Of course SE would have to say out of the gate that the challenging new is not meant for everyone and stick to their guns like you say.
