If you were to follow the values that were data-mined for the exp curve from 50-60, I wouldn't think just hanging in Northern Thanalan would be the greatest of ideas.

For context, from 1-50, you need to earn a cumulative 8.2 million points of exp.

If the values found are to be true, to go from 50-60 is about 10.5 million points of exp. That is more than double the road to 50 from 1! Not to mention that until you get your first level 60, you are also losing on your passive 50% exp bonus. Overall, you'd probably be better off just hitting the new content, at least for your first level 60. If you follow the main scenario, grind out a couple of the dungeons, and hit each questing zone, you'd probably be hitting it pretty naturally.

Level 1-30 is 1.3M exp, 30-40 is almost 2.3M exp
Level 1-40 is 3.6M exp, 40-50 is almost 4.7M exp

The exp you get from killing stuff, doing FATEs, doing leves scales up as you level, so it softens the blow. The reason 40-50 felt so rough was that the MSQ sputters there and only covers a small fraction of your exp, while it was enough to cover the bulk of it at lower levels.

The problem is that you only earn so much exp from FATEs and Leves of lower level before you just have to retire a zone and move on. But I think we're also going a little off-top from what OP wanted. Jumping straight into the new zones and leveling there will clear a multitude of goals all at once. You are clearing the MSQ (A claimed 50 hours in length.) Attuning to the new camps for teleporting. Unlocking the ability to fly in each of the new zones (You can not fly immediately upon entering one.) Unlocking new dungeons for later roulette, etc. I mean, if you REALLY want to just bot in N. Than from 50-60. You're still entitled to do so. I think it's dumb, but you can.

Um... 10.5 is more than double 8.2?
