I wouldn't mind if the main protagonist was a mute like Gordon Freeman, but your character talks. The story is really good and the characters are well developed, but the way they made the protagonist annoys me. Should have SE taken the GW2 route and gave the main character a voice?
I lol'ed with OP post because it reminds me of Breath of Fire IV. One of my first RPG.
When Nina found Ryu (main char), she speaks a lot of things, while Ryu just nodes. Then I thought: "Oh, poor guy. Nina just found a mute boy. She is so nice! She can understand what Ryu want to tell". But no, Ryu is not mute. He is just the main char, whose voice do not appear in dialogue box.

Another case: Caim, Drakengard 1. He is really mute. Angelus speaks a lot of cool and cruel stuffs, while Caim just kill and hate everything. Caim = best character ever, despite not saying a single word. Lol

    Just random thoughts, sorry xD
