Sorry for your troubles OP. However, please remember that not all players are like that. Personally, I try to be aware of my party set up, rough ilvl, and if anyone is new. Once I have that information I try to accommodate the group as best as I can to ensure a good run for everyone.

That being said, players who insist on doing a dungeon "the one way" are bad players, period. If they turn volatile then they are bad people and they should be ashamed of themselves.
They need to understand that not everyone can go their pace and that there are times when they need to be patient.

highest ilevel at launch was ilevel 90.
The highest gear someone can have start ARR was full Darklight gear from 1.x or the highest craftable gear at launch, that only is ilevel 70

So my main worry is, new players that come once Heavensward is released, and later, they are going to have a lot of trouble.

P.s Yes we played the new player card in our FC aswell, too which they replied, "Can't help you, busy with raiding, crafting, other stuff" over a 3 day period, nobody helped us, so we always had to queue.
just make a char on my server, we got a small friendly fc, and i will gladly help u and ur fiancee out, i love helping new players. we are on pheonix, small fc 2 statics.

I don't get why people feel the need to abuse newer players. It honestly really pisses me off. When I see a player getting treated that way just because they're new, I can't keep my mouth shut. I've seen it way too many times before, and I end up telling them to chill the #$*& out because we were all new once. If they keep being abusive, I exercise my right to put them up for a vote kick. We're there to run a dungeon, not to berate the healer for just subscribing a week ago.

I'm always glad when I queue with 1-2 friends in a premade and we get a new person. Even though it slows down our run in a lot of cases, at least I know that the new person that will have things explained to them and will generally be taken care of. We pass drops that are an improvement for them, we tell them dungeon mechanics, and we work with them to make the experience pleasant. If the tank is low geared, we tell them to do their best and not to sweat it if they end up losing aggro on some things - there's just not much you can do about it when the DPS have weapons that are 30+ item levels higher. If the healer is low geared, we do small pulls and make sure we're tanking in our tanking stance and using cooldowns if we need to. I don't get why some people just can't do these things.

P.s Yes we played the new player card in our FC aswell, too which they replied, "Can't help you, busy with raiding, crafting, other stuff" over a 3 day period, nobody helped us, so we always had to queue.
You really need to get a different FC that's more willing to help new players. I know when new players join mine, we end up tagging along with them for a lot of dungeons and trials as they level. Our newest player just hit 50 recently and we slapped her into some i70 gear and bulldozed her relic quest for her. As she leveled, we'd already done many of her story dungeons with her. We actually dragged her through several EX primals last night for giggles, and she did admirably with only minimal familiarity with the mechanics and no voice chat. Hell, she lived till double plumes in Titan EX on her second attempt (the first time she got knocked off, lol). We were actually pleasantly surprised at how well she did. :3

That's the best part though - you never know what kind of player they turn out to be. Yesterday's noob could be tomorrow's raider. Why not help them meet their potential with some friendly instruction and encouragement?

(Yes, there's always the "DON'T TELL ME HOW TO PLAY MY CLASS!!!" crowd but that's different. :3)

I think a lot of people need to calm down, this isn't a shaming game. Things like this happen on and off games, there's always that one jerk who can just ruin a whole day.

In the end of the day, there's people like this at work, outside in the normal 'non-existing' world outside of FFXIV and Inside FFXIV. I'm not saying get over it or that it's ok but it's not just a restricted thing to any Ilvl, it's something that happens all over the world.

I think the best thing to take from this is the morals of the story, if you see someone in DF whether they are new or not.
    • Don't expect a SR from everyone, not everyone feels comfortable with it.
    • Don't force the expectations of what a player should do vs what they can do. (e.g; A healer who may be too nervous to DPS on top of healing but being expected to be able to DPS.)
    • Try to be kinder to your fellow party members.
    • If a battle or pull is unsuccessful, don't get upset or abandon/vote abandon duties. Instead try taking the alternative route and explain a fight or make a friendly suggestion.

    The above can change a whole lot and even one person doing this can drastically change outcomes, you'd be surprised. ^^;

For the people talking about the poetics preventing fast ilvl 120 gear, did you all forget world of darkness is uncapped? That drops 120 gear and the weekly quests lets you even upgrade poetics gear you do have

I like both Ashkendor and Lillia's posts ^_^v I think many people too often treat the people they get in DF as if they were nameless NPCs and get mad when something ruins their own perceived view of how a run should go "for them". It is almost as if they see the people in the group like a card that they pulled from a deck that ended up being a 5 instead of the Ace they wanted and so just want to give up and draw another. People need to remember that there are real live humans behind the character they see, and that that dps or healer or tank actually has a real life name in addition to their character name. People like the abusive dps in the OP post seem to be this type of person, which I really dislike :/ Internet anonymity how I hate thee....

Gotta reach that ilvl to enter it first! That's why CT1 and sol accessory upgrades from the 100 sol per run is the best bet towards CT2 aka ST gear then finally to WoD where the player can then reach the minimum of 120 while they open dungeons and gain poetics for new gears.

When i started ak for my 1st time i was like zzzz this is too slow, so after wiping to first mob i was like ok we sac and pull. Saw tht vid and it worked like a charm.
Imo doesn't matter if ur new or not, if ur new and good at ur role & is also able to observe then speed running ur first time isn't bad.
In fact u should be praising urself being able to keep up with the others.
But ofc new players like to hold the baby safe go slow plz im new no more than 1 mob at a time.

There are so many haters even Commendations have gone down drastically for quite a few people that are absolute gems to the cummunity.
"Sorry to mention this, but you shouldn't be using INT gear on a BRD."
"Sorry I don't play 24/7, just because you have better gear than me doesn't mean you can tell me what to do. Elitist asshole!"

If a fair share of new players weren't so hostile to simple constructive criticisms, perhaps the "d-bags" would be more open to being more welcoming.

Being new doesn't automatically mean that you're not an asshole.
