If the bonus works the way it SAYS it does, there should actually be an increase in exp gained rather than a loss.
Though it probably caps out sooooo

If you are talking about the rested exp bonus - that bonus doesn't cap on a certain amount but is in direct relation to % of level gained. I tried that twice on my alt character, once from level 1-11 and once from 20-30 After letting it sit around 60 days in a resting area for the 20-30 part. The 1-11 was from sitting around a year or so lol
The resting exp bonus will give out if you level around 10 level. I.e. the bonus you'll get is only 3,25-3.5 level worth of exp until it caps out. So its perfect to level your first class purely with mobs/fates to 60, but after that you'll have to make due ^^. In retrospect it as well means that you can use up the same amount of bonus for fast leveling levels like 1-30 or use it to make higher level leveling faster. I for my part will not level any new classes at 3.0 but get 2 DoW to 60 straight away to get the highest amount of exp out of it ;x

It doesn't work exactly how it says it does.
It caps at 50% and it hits that cap very easily (with 1-2 level difference). You don't even need to have a 50 to get a 50% bonus.
If you start a brand new character and level it to 5, you'll see the 50% bonus if you switch to a level 1.
