So, we still don't have the "you lose your house after 35 days inactivity" thing? That explains why wards feel so empty. People bought a house, became inactive and might never come back, but the plot is gone. I honestly don't understand that.

I think this should be brought back temporarily in the cases where servers have not a single housing plot available.

Its not entirely clear but from the snippets we have gotten through 3rd party translators of Japanese only interviews, there will be more housing added to the current city states some time after the release of Heavensward (My guess is Patch 3.1 at the earliest as most of the stuff that goes with housing won't be live till around then). Then a year or two after the launch of 3.0 we will see Ishgard evolve, just as we saw Revenants Toll grow and evolve as the patches progressed, into a Settlement we can inhabit. I don't know yet if we can pledge allegiance to it like the other three city states but I don't get the impression it will be like this. I picture it like Jueno from FFXI.

At least these are the impressions I get with the information we have found. I'll keep adding more here regarding housing as I find it.

I agree but only in regards to Personal Housing. Make it a storyline quest where you are granted the deed to your own plot of land in an instanced area. Allow for people to invite others, add Eternal Bond interaction, etc, etc. But keep the current Wards for FC housing. It functions quite well as a FC thing, its a nice community setting, and I had no problems with it. It was when they introduced Personal Housing into the same areas that I KNEW there would be issues like this. Personal Homes competing with FC plots....

This was an exchange in another thread but there were some good points I wanted to add to this thread. Try to keep this thread with info, ideas, and possible solutions.

It would be nice if you sold the plot to the bank and couldnt transfer ownership. Also, is the "inactive for 31 days and it gets relinquished" still actually a thing?

It was never a thing, it was planned to be added in a patch way way back, but people complained so the idea was shelved, which isn't helping the shortage on some servers at all. It'd be nice to clear up some land for people that are actually playing.

Ya, that needs to be a thing. Do it like the calamity salvager, you lose the deed, money refunded, all items placed on the plot are returned. For FC houses, it can transfer to another active member or the same thing as i mentioned above but reimburse any personal rooms and their contents to the owner.

I'm really hoping for some big changes in 3.0 to the housing.

With 3.0 coming out some inactive accounts will be reactivated some will not.
Are there any plans to reclaim land from inactive accounts post 3.0?

They need to implement the 31day inactivity penalty they mentioned once upon a time. just set up all items to be returned to the calamity salvager along with the reimbursement of funds.

I thought they were adding plots? If that happens there won't be much need to reclaim.

I am against reclaims because I couldn't play for a year. If I had a house I would have been screwed.

This is why i suggest the refund and placing items back in a salvager instead of disappearing into the ether cause I know 3.0 will bring back some players that may have taken an extended break.

As far as reimbursement of funds it would need to be minimum plot value returned not what was paid. This way it become a gil sink as well.

More than likely if they did this, they'd follow suit of pretty much every MMO I've played that had public housing, which was to give you a voucher for another plot/house of equal value to what you had.

Don't even have to scrap the current system or rebuild whats there. Keep what we have now but make it FC housing only, then create a separate housing system for personal housing that is a per-player reward that EVERYONE can have. Make it upgradeable for fees and allow us to invite others to come see our plot. I liked how WKC did it. But yes, instanced personal homes would solve the issue IMHO.

So It looks like they are adding in lots of new and cool stuff for housing in the 3.0 patch notes. Still not a peep on more plots or clearing out old ones or anything on plot maintenance. Looks like we will still be homeless bums in heavensward.
