2.55 Main Scenario Requirement.

How is comparing 100 quests to thousands even remotely the same? Azshara's quest achievement alone has as many quests as the Astral story-line and its just 1 zone on just 1 of the 3 continents you are comparing it to!

Basically to get to level 50 you do the main story line, a few dungeons and a hand full of the many side quests if needed. If you do every quest in the game on top of running a dungeon for the first time and the MSQ you are over-killing by leaps and bounds.

Once you hit 50 you have 100 story quests that can be completed very quickly. The only time consuming parts to the Astral story line are the few dungeons and trials you have to do, and its not even close to all the dungeons and trials available in the game.

Your comparison was horrible, its like comparing a lake to the ocean. Yeah, they are both bodies of water but the sheer size difference is enormous.

The main story line, a few dungeons and a hand full of side quest will not get you to 50. The 2.0-2.4 msq will not get you to ilevel 90 which you need for 2.55.
My comparisson is about as preposterous as yours thinking its all easy peasy for a new player to attaint that which took you 2yrs

You need ilvl90 for the story right now. Not neccesarilly for when Heavensward is out and the level cap is increased.
