I think there has been a general market decline in some things over the last month, as people are taking a break before Heavensward. Less people playing = less people buying = less demand for goods.

The market will perk up again massively in a couple of months.

The FF14 market crashes more than the US Economy.

What I have found is that if you simply list something 15% cheaper than the market it will almost always sell. If you only list a few gill below the rest you stand a much greater chance of being undercut and not selling.

Well, many of the overzealous undercuts I notice are just foolish. Some items don't move any more quickly through the market no matter how low the price drops. And yet people will literally drop the price in half (or worse).

For the record, I've never had anything "not sell". Whether it sells first or it sells later doesn't matter to me, so long as it's selling at the amount I'm content with. I don't depend on any one item, rather I sell many, many items and something of mine is always selling for decent coin without me having to dump a ton of my inventory/resources for very little profit. While some in this thread paint the picture of others camping the marketboard and waging price-wars (rather than running around and having fun playing), we can also talk about the people who are making a pittance for the amount of time and effort they put into acquiring something to sell - not exactly a fun concept either.

There are way too many items and types of needs out there for any one statement or philosophy to cover all of them. Sometimes undercutting makes sense, sometimes it doesn't. Based on some of the behavior I've seen I'm not convinced many understand this, and for them it's likely less about strategy and more about the lack of patience within the "gimme now" generation.

I know how much it costs in materials to make the stuff I sell. I have my own arbitrary minimum profit per synth I tack on. Easy lower price limit established. I I'll freely undercut any amount i deem necessary to sell 1st until it drops below my predetermined price and I just stop making/selling that item till prices rebound or materials follow suite and drop.

easy peasy system. If I get undercut below my minimum price then someone has cheaper materials or doesn't value their time as highly as me. ie: i got out competed. or they are selling at a loss. Fire sale or a dumb ego trip thinking they can corner the market. Lulz. Soon as it rebounds I'm back in without a penny lost. Gratz on wasting money on the delusion of control.

There are actual players with no life that stand near a mb all day and undercut people.
Myself and others have had this happen to us, do dungeons and stuff, and what do you know items sold for less then posted within an hr or less timeframe
