Extrem undercutting?

The idea of not letting new crafters get anywhere before 3.0 is slightly infuriating. I almost hope people ARE doing that, so that people like me who hopped on crafting late and are still packing Lucis tools get to laugh at their efforts.

But I don't understand the mentality that leads to that. If you have your Gil, your house, and your gear...what are you gaining by trying the freeze others out? Especially with Specialization showing up.

I'm not talking about getting your lucis, you'll need a bit of a stockpile to get going in 3.0 I imagine..

As for the mentality.. it's not for the sake of griefing people, at least I hope not.. Rather, it's the crafters' way of competing, MB PVP as Yiyi put it, then it's also fueled by other types like the name stamps etc.

I myself am a pure mix of 1 and 4, I've yet to sell a single equipment with my name stamped on it on the MB.. I've made them per request, just never listed them on MB.. I like to keep my involvement in the MB a blur, keeping the competition in the dark.. and #3 only comes into play for my friends so, while that's a nice little bonus to be able to craft and send gifts once in a while, that's not my main motivator.

This is just about the one thing old 2.0 crafters cooperate on

Not that I'm an old school crafter, I started the game in 2.4.. But there IS a lot of room for crafter collusion in this game, I myself am in a linkshell with most of the 4 star crafters on my server. There hasn't been any talks of an organized effort to keep people out (But I know it does happen on a smaller scale) and if one of us decided to take the lead and organize our efforts... it wouldn't be pretty for the rest of the people consumers and small time crafters alike.

I think it may actually happen once 3.0 comes rolling.
