But that doesn't make sense. You don't need the best gear in the game if all you're going to do is sit around and run Primals, FATES, and dungeons all day. You want better gear than the base level, and that's understandable. You'll always have that, though. Relic weapons, tome gear, and 24-man gear (and now Normal mode Alexander).

The people who are interested in high-end content deserve adequate rewards for what they do, though. And I'm happy 3.0 is going this direction. What, it's fair for the 'casual' crowd to want raid gear, and highest level gear for half the dedication, but the 'hardcore' crowd can't want anything to show for their efforts? Now that is selfish. They find the strategies that work, they release guides, they spend progression getting antsy at each other, they spend day and night in some of the most handicapped conditions, trying to beat the odds. And in the end? You, for the most part, can't tell them apart from the rest of the people in the game.

I guess the simplest way to say it is... not having the best weapons and armor in the game won't kill you. It might even motivate you, or other players to improve so that they can get the gear that they want. It's not a bad thing, I don't think.

The thing is, when FCoB came out in 2.4, the only way to get ilvl 130 (whether it be dreadwyrm or augmented) was in FCoB. There was no other way to get the carbonstuff outside of FCoB until 2.5.

Unless you're referring to the natural degradation of making said gear easier to obtain as time passes, then I'd disagree, especially when you start to near the end of that patch cycle.

The last part is up in the air because some of the dreadwyrm pieces are just straight up bad for some classes. Some augmented pieces are instead BiS for my bard. But I wouldn't be able to get some of those anyway at the release of FCoB unless I was able to do FCoB for those carbontwines to begin with.
