    Mail, AH and Banks

I would like some news regarding these systems.

    MAIL
A mail system imo is essential to an MMO. I'd like to be able to send items, gils or schedule events with my linkshell by sending mail to friends so they can get it even when they are offline. That and there's many other obvious uses to a mail system and that makes it a must for the game.

Note:To make things more Final Fantasy like it would be cool
to use the Moogles for that. Like the Mognet system of FFIX. Either replace mailboxes with Moogles or make them personal Moogles that we can summon from anywhere or specific places(cities) to get our mail.
    AH
I know some of you are content with the market wards system but others like me are still wishing to have an AH. Not here to debate on why an AH is better then the markets, just want to know what the plans are for this as Yoshi-P said he was considering it.

Note:Maybe there is a way to consolidate Market Wards and Auction Houses, like a way to keep both and make them work together without having either system kill the other. Maybe someone has an idea on how to make that work? If so plz tell us!

    Bank
My bag is always always always full! I keep cleaning up my inventory and it's annoying.... giving my retainer items is not the solution as they are not meant for that. We need to have a banking system to store some of our stuff. Give us a set amount of space and make extra space available by purchasing it.

Note: Having linkshell banks too would be nice, a place for all linkshell members to store and share items.

Bayohne can you please ask the devs if they are still considering these?

I've already posted multiple times an idea for the MW that incorporates all the good stuff about an AH (time and convenience) without implementing the shitty stuff (Timed Bidding, Blind Bidding, and Price History).

    1. Remove the Physical Wards.
    2. Make the Wards a Menu
    3. When you search for an item it does like it does now and lists the retainer of the user with the lowest price first.
    4. Clicking the retainer opens their inventory in a new menu and lets you buy the item you were searching for, It also keeps the "Window Shopping" Effect.
    5. You can blind search the lists of retainers still.
    6. When you buy an item its delivered to a mailbox. Go pick it up.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

Honestly? I don't think there is a way to still keep the graphical market wards and still have it be viable. There's way too much overhead involved when keeping rendered retainers around, and if they introduce a secondary system that isn't severely crippled like FFXI's AH, MW will pretty much die off.

But they can make it be a good, viable system while still not giving it a WOW-esque feel by just moving everything to a menu/text based interface. By that, I mean you'd still have to place items on a retainer to sell/repair/whatever them, you just don't have to go toss him in a dungeon. Removing the need to place retainers in a zone will have amazing effects on the organization, user friendliness, and stability.

To give you an idea of what that might look like, it would be like player shops from Neopets or Amazon.com's scheme (user-made shops, no auctions, can browse whole shop, etc).

In the translated Famitsu interview, Yoshida did touch on retainers and delivery systems slightly (all credit to Reinheart for translating ^^) :

Famitsu: There is a level showing for the retainer when you call them out. Does this mean there is a feature being prepared where they grow and you can give more commands?

Yoshida: In future planning for a feature where retainers can search for you while you’re logged out but this has low priority. First we have to make sure perfect the feature for the market.

Famitsu: When calling out retainer in the same window we see the cancel the contract option and that is worrisome. Isn’t it possible to make this option available at the hiring counter?

Yoshida: We already received comments in the forums and making changes for this in 1.18 so please don’t worry.

Famitsu: Would be nice if we able to have a sign or a comment for items being sold in the retainer

Yoshida: We also have an idea for this, personally would like to add more human like animations like thanking the customer after they buy.

    Famitsu: How about delivery?

Yoshida: We will implement delivery, but it will be after server modifications. Message and letter will be same.

No time frame given but I would imagine it would be 1.20+

I'm not sure if i understand this correctly but do you mean having the ability to summon retainers anywhere a la Ragnarok? It can be cool but I think the main reason for having retainers in the wards is for server stability. I don't think the servers can handle it.

No. I mean not setting up the retainers anywhere, at all. No more shuffling between dungeons to check out vendor-zombies, no more tearing your hair out because X ward can't accept any more retainers, nada. Just have everything be done via a menu/text interface like Amazon.com/Neopets, and remove the physical aspect of MW.

If they really want market wards, its actually old news, or rather, nothing new. See perfect world, they got both wards and AH, and it works great! Let us put up shops in town, that would be cool!

Then in that case, wouldn't it be like an AH? I'm not familiar with neopets.... AH is pretty much that... everything is text/menu based...
