I think it was said in another thread that SE is backed up by the Yakuza or something like that, so it'll be okay.

I am working. I've got three other things happening on my second monitor while I troll your posts here. ^_^
Any-dang-way, we all know a lot of those reviews for the initial launch, while well-deserved, were still not an accurate appraisal of the game.
This will never happen, because "video game journalism" has been biased against SE for years. It's considered "in style" to rip on Final Fantasy (and Sonic, for that matter), but what a great story it would be if the game is fantastic when SE releases it on the PS3. I can see the headlines now: "FFXIV does a complete 180, inspires idiot bloggers to actually proof-read their reviews from now on".
SE can do it. They're headed in the right direction, though there's a lot more work to do (and they know this). What they'll also need is proper timing. Don't go for a Christmas release. I'd go with February or March 2012, after everyone's bored with their Christmas presents, and it's the middle of the semester at school, so students will be desperate for something to distract them from their studies.
They'll also need a dynamite ad campaign in Europe and North America. This has never been SE's forte, but perhaps with Sony's corporate muscle they could lend a hand.
