Will it be a year before this game is competitive enough for PS3?

Honestly I understand it takes time to fix a game. But 1.19 is end of sept earliest (so probably more like october). And they will not have determined how to do the special classes by then, so 1.20 prob won't be out till december-ish since it will take time to sift through feedback and make proper changes (look how long the survey took)

So that means by December we -might- have a game with a functional battle system.

But it seems like there won't be any new zones by then other than beastman stronghold raids. Ishgard still won't be open. The game will still be a mess because there wont be constant algorithms, etc. As a result there won't be a real economy. Even if they redesign how the zones look, you will still get endless hallways, and if they take those out, the world will seem tiny. It seems like endgame content will mainly be raids so its likely the world will still feel kinda dead.

Further it looks like there's going to be -too- many leveling options for the small population.

-hamlet battles
-caravan escort
-company leves
-company quests (possibly repeatable?)
-parties
-25 raid
-behests
-normal quests
-missions (which give tons of sp now)

If the game was pulling in new players than this would make sense, but when you have a majority population of 50's all that will happen is the most efficient methods towards SP will be used and the rest will be empty (kinda like most behests are now). This will just make the game seem even more dead than it is.

this is kinda a doom and gloom thread sadly because at the rate this game is advancing things wont be balanced out until a few months into 2012. Meaning the game will prob have to compete with tera and SWTOR if it ever comes out on ps3 (and no christmas ps3 release which would have in itself boosted the population via christmas presents).

I'm going to stick with the game and i honestly think the game will be amazing, and love the work that Yoshi-p is doing. But i'm also realistic, releasing that a year-old game mid-year on a console when the game has horrid reviews on most sites isn't really a recipe for success.

If they are smart they will release it Christmas 2012, but in that case releasing a 2 year old game on a console with a bunch of new modern MMO's is a difficult marketing feat. Also what does it say to consumers if it takes 2 years to get a game into working order?

So what are you thoughts? Think they will go for christmas 2012 or release it before then?

They said that about 1.18 actually. And here we are still waiting 2+ months for each patch.

And god forbid someone enjoys playing and decides to rank some classes to 50... Why shouldn't he? Just becuase you only managed to get to 21 doesn't mean other people shouldn't play and get to 50 because they want to.

Check out translations from the latest Famitsu book thing about FFXIV. They specifically mention after 1.19.

And yeah, it's great that you enjoy the game right now, but not only did you set yourself up for burnout, but also for a general dearth of endgame content(which may or may not be the case), whereas people who decided to hold out and leave their characters at low ranks(and I plan to wipe for the 3rd time once 1.19 hits) will have the benefit of having BUCKETLOADs of stuff to do.

I have a feeling 1.20 will come in October, They'll announce a micro Expansion that will be included with the PS3 Release and the PS3 Release will be two weeks before Christmas. If this is all true. It means we might see the new Gender choices in 1.20 or 1.21.

I highly doubt the PS3 version will be out before Christmas. My original hopes were 1st quarter of 2012, but even that is starting to look pretty far-fetched. I'm going to go with by the end of next year, that way I will be very pleased if it comes out earlier.

I hope that it does come out ASAP. I have several friends with PS3s just dying to play, but they don't want to fork out the cash to build a PC that can run the game.

nobody said that endgame content will be based on raids so until it's confirmed you can't just assume that then complain about it, & the way they are doing the game now is to prepare for new players while not forgetting the high ranking one,

you ask about the ps3 release, the again, you complain about having so many lvling options for new players while most of the players now are on rank 50. But then again, you forgot that the people who are coming after the ps3 release will be lvl 1 not 50 .

as for myself, i expect the ps3 release to be around mid march next year with a huge content patch along with it.

Ummm.... that's what most of us do in forums is assume based on our wants and what we read then processed to be what we "wanted" to read and what we "actually" read and then we type our thoughts and fellings here for you to ALSO express your own. So ... while Azurymber may have given HER thoughts you shouldn't blast her for them.

We need content for R50s is one of the points she is making. The other, is how can you think about releasing a "new" console game IF the "merchanidse" has already been damaged (critics/players) and or the player base continues to die down? Honestly both are valid hence why she asked and the assumption was made.

Supposedly, Figaro is a high pop server. Well, guess 99% of that pop is lvl 50 as I BARELY see any new players so from my POV, her statements and assumptions are valid and personally, idk wtf SE is going to do to revive this game. It has gotten better no doubt but I wonder if they should pull it and relaunch it as something else with ALLL the issues fixed. They need to pull the plug on the public broadcasting of it and let people forget what happened. Those of us still playing, should be basically live CB testers until we say "Ok SE, THIS is what you SHOULD have launched!" and THEN they can re-open the flood gates to the public. SE can tell the story to the world as to wtf happened and why ALL the press releases stopped but maybe just maybe, it will have people come back to the game with fresh minds and eyes rather then the attitude of, "This is still that stupid game SE failed on? hahahah".... That's my concern.
