Stopping it starts with the players. Don't buy gil, Don't buy carries/loot drops etc.. Report player's that buy/bot etc. Otherwise I never see rmt going away. Instant gratification is not always worth it.

Honestly, if you've been on Balmung your whole gaming time, you have no clue what other servers go through. I've been on Balmung for about a week now, and the spam here is unbelievably different than it is on other servers. On Balmung, it really is only a tell or two a day.
However, as having come from Leviathan, I can assure you that not all servers have it as good as Balmung. During my time on Leviathan, I would get tells constantly. You see constant shout spam messages (up to 10 times in a row every few minutes) every time you visit the 4 major cities. You get friend requests everyday from Ughghsk Didhdkd. It's annoying as hell.
RMT will never go away because there is an incentive to cheat and there will always be someone willing to take the risk of being caught. I'm of the opinion that we should set our sights lower than getting rid of it entirely and aim for not being bothered in game.
Insanity is a gradual process, don't rush it - Ford Prefect
No matter what you do, the RMT'ers will find a loophole around it. SE can have the ultimate plan to get rid of them, but the RMT'ers will have an ultimate plan to jump over it. You can only temporary stop them for a time ( until they find a way to beat the system). Luckily on my server Masamune I have not received a single spam tell since like 2.0 started.
Just increase the blacklist at the very least. 400+ slots needed or just uncap it completely....

Like someone said rmt will never go away as long as there are players who are willing to take the risk and break rules. I got to the point I put /tells in a different tab and turned off the notification sound. Besides being in busy mode which is an inconvience.
Balmung is near 24/7 lock-down but there must've been short period of time where the window was open.
The Gil sellers are getting worse, one even Friend Requested me yesterday and about 6 tells throught-out the day. 2 within an hour and one of them just now as I type this.
Using Balmung as an example of "I rarely get a tell" is bad because of what I said above, and any other that's near lock-down.
Believe it or not, other servers are ran rampant of RMT's, we just don't see. It actually does ruin peoples experience and many have
left because of it. People shouldn't have to play RMT police, report, blacklist be full to the brim, remove /tells and do
100 other things to enjoy the game. For every one we report, 600 million just back en masses.
I still have the same folks for months on my end. It was worse when I was on Leviathan.Fair enough. I guess I just am ignorant to the issue since our world is on constant lock down like mentioned before. To let something like tell spam steer you away from playing a game imo is a bit ridiculous but hey your money your choice. Good luck.Honestly, if you've been on Balmung your whole gaming time, you have no clue what other servers go through. Yup! Agreed. Canceling the preorders because they ran out of time at a live event is just silly IMHO. They are only human...wait until they do the Q&A, then see...I was confused about this as well.
It wasn't only questions about RMT, but NOBODY'S questions got answered at this month's LL because they RAN OUT OF TIME. I could understand if they answered questions and ignored RMT, but... they didn't even get to do the session! At that time, they said they'd carry the questions over to May's LL. But since the Niconico Con is this weekend, they might do a Q&A session there, too.
People need to have some more patience, imo.
You really have to put it in perspective. It gets pretty bad when you get spams every couple of minutes or so; your only choice would be to deal with it or isolate whispers (as well as trades and party invites) entirely including genuine ones from other players.
They're both really shoddy alternatives to something that's been going on (and getting progressively worse) for a while now.
