Its highly doubtful that the Ascians are good at all. That said, there is the possiblity that Zodiark isn't evil, and maybe in a weaker state then Hydaelin at the moment.

FFXII Zodiark was never evil itself, but instead sealed away by the Occuria because they feared it would become more powerful than even them...and it was essentially only a child when they did so.

using Ivalece lore he was the 'keeper of the parcepts' aka the keeper of order/law, if FFXIV's zodiark shares in this, then he will have nothing but desire to rebalance order, how he dose it won't matter to him, in his eyes he could want to destroy the planet, or kill everything just so everything fits into a unified order of death, it is similar to seymour's wish in ffx on mount gagazet where he wished to stop the cycle of death by killing everyone.

so even if zodiark isn't evil his mission could kill everything which obviously isn't good D:

Possibly, though I was mostly just using the example as to what he might be like based on previous versions. Though I'm not sure what Zodiark may have been like in the other Ivalice games.

At this point I am almost certan that when we speak of Hydaelin and Zodiark that we are not referring to two mutually exclusive beings. I remember something Rahmu said, about prior to the spoken Races that "Light and Dark were one and the same".

So could it actually be the Spoken Races fault that Hydaelin and Zodiark actually exist? In 1.0's lore the beginning of the "Age of Man" was the 1st Umbral Era when The races of Man began to wadge war with each other. That led The Twelve to "Leave" this world thus ending "The Divine Era" or "Age of the Gods" which was when The Twelve still walked on Eorzea with it's people. We also know that at some point The Elzen, Lalafel, and Roegadyn came to Eorzea, then during the 5th Umbral Era Hyur and Mi'qote came during "The age of endless frost" . So we can guess that none of the five races were here in Eorzea during the Divine or 1st Umbral Era, So who were they? Why did the war start? And how was Light and Darkness, two fundamentally opposite concepts, "One and the Same" before that?

Only the devs know and Only time will tell. So in the immortal words of Yoshi-P, "Please look forward to it."

hmm good point, the only race we know of eorzea to be natural to the land was the Allag. and that may not be true, since we only know the allag empire was around mainly during the 3rd era and attacked the mercydians who summoned bahamut, this could mean mercydia was once a part of eorzia, another guess could be the draconian horde are one of the more natural races of eorzea next to the amalj'aa but little is known about there presence in the previous ages, we know Ifrit was a very strong amalj'aa warrior who's horn was twisted by fire and that is what gave amalj'aa hope by following what was there greatest leader, but it dosnt say which age Ifrit was from it just says 'long ago' but to get back to the OT (for which i apologieze for the slight tangent)

with what we know about the Au Ra and there Lore, i would love if we meet a few NPC's who share in on the dusk mother and dawn father,
also with the horns, i wonder how that will affect some hoods and hats or will they simply just 'clip' though them rather then special horn guards.
not only this but when it comes to scales one thought always crosses my mind how uncomfortable must they be?

There was an interview on this, take a look ^^

Will the horns unique to the Au Ra create issues with interference, like with helmets?
Y: The adjustments took time... it was a lot of effort from the character modeling team. It was important to us that the horns would be visible even with helmets on to maintain the identity of the race. There was a lot of talk between the art and character teams to make sure that interference with new equipment wouldn't occur because of last minute design changes. Of course, the new equipment took this into account, but we had to carefully go through adjustments for existing equipment to fit the Au Ra.

I really love this new Viet connection. I'm so going to fantasia into an Au Ra during early access. Definitely Xaela. I only need help in deciding between female and male.

I'm going to make a new character. While I'm not an RP enthusiast, I do prefer my characters' names to make sense in-story (unlike a certain few (in)famous names I remember from other MMOs). Hopefully I can chew through 2.x during the early access; skipping cutscenes should help greatly.

Don't like using Fantasia, since not only does it cost real-world $ I'm too attached to my current character.

From a realistic stand point as a few people have mentioned, i think any intimacy between the males and females would be...awkward to say the least, mostly when you consider intercourse between them, the males would split them in half judging by the size of the males.

And i get that it's seemingly because the females are meant to represent a more mystical aspect of their race with them being the poster girls for astrologian, so being more petite and mystical makes sense from a design aspect, but then the males are the polar opposites, huge lean and very fit looking. And let's face it SE just wanted to pander to the huge female miqo'te demographic by creating another cute fan service character. It's sad that the female Au'ra's just feel like female miqo'te's 2.0.

They weren't "pandering" to anything beyond numbers, more people play lala's, miqo'te females, and female hyur than female highlanders or female roe, or even elezen.

As for the size difference.. it can be made to work, Daenerys and Drogo prove it lol.. they make it work better than alot of roe/hyur/miqo'te, anything/lala couples.. the males horns though make me wonder how the eternal bond kiss will work.

Female Au ra are dragon faeries more or less, even moreso in light of the rl story they may be linked to.. they are more padjal than miqo'te.. i like it~
