The high-level raid (Alexander) won't come until 3.1. The high-tier raids are what prompts the next iLevel increase (as seen during the 2.0-2.5 arc). What this means is that, most likely, the current iLevel 130 gear will remain the best until 3.1.

Considering you need iLevel 90 to even get access to Heavensward stuff (since the Final Trial is ILvl 90) I guess we go from there.

Alexander normal is 2 weeks after launch, Alexander hard is 2 weeks after that. I expect Alexander weaksauce to give 140-150 gear, with extreme giving 150-170.

I'm not sure what to think TBH. Unless there is a gear alteration on 3.0 then we will have some weird gear scaling post level 50.
For example
- iLvL Stat scaling is the same as gear level scaling but is not Linear to gear level scaling.
So that means we could have level 60 gear with the same stats as i90 gear.
But....
Def/MDef scales entirely different.
Looking at a tank i130 body piece with 167 Defense - I estimate a lvl 60 piece to have around 218.
If nothing changes in 3.0 will we be better off with lower stats and higher Def for the initial sets of gear?

A lv 60 tank body with ilevel 130 would still have the same def as a lv 50 tank body with ilevel 130
level determine what level your class/job need to wear it.
ilevel determine how high the maximal stats on the gear can be.

Higher tier raids prompted ilvl increases before a level cap increase and the addition of new 51+ dungeons and raid content.* i130 may last for 2-3 levels, but at some point, new dungeon drops + new crafted gear are going to outweigh it. There is no way the developers are going to have us coast through 10 levels without having to rearm ourselves with stronger weapons.
And if they do? There's that possibility, but you never know.Higher tier raids prompted ilvl increases before a level cap increase and the addition of new 51+ dungeons and raid content.* i130 may last for 2-3 levels, but at some point, new dungeon drops + new crafted gear are going to outweigh it. I wouldn't mind new gear as I level but I've grown so attach to them you know?

Levelling is incredibly easy to do, and it's not unheard of to go 10 levels before getting a gear upgrade. The earlier levels are evidence of that as most armors don't get upgraded versions until you're 10 levels higher. Why should this be any different?
Your ilvl 130 gear will suffice until you hit 60 at which point you can do the new 'endgame' and obtain ilvl 140 or something. There have been literally dozens of posts on this same subject, and they have already stated that there won't be a massive jump in gear.

I guess we will see. Yes, you could go 10 levels before upgrading, but you didn't have to. There were gearing options every 5 levels or so. I just don't think that with 8 new dungeons and new recipes that they will forgo level 54 or level 58 armor. And the ilevel doesn't have to jump significantly if there is a level requirement on the armor that makes it stronger.Levelling is incredibly easy to do, and it's not unheard of to go 10 levels before getting a gear upgrade.
