No, not really, not in this game, anyhow. He could've just cast Regen on himself and used Sprint to get the hell out of there. Even if 20 Kobolds had suddenly showed up out of nowhere, any semi-decent WHM would easily be able to escape.
By that logic, we wouldn't have that fiasco with the 2.55 climax because we're so powerful in game. Dude's dead, Kobolds got him, and that's that. No amount of logic any of us argue would change anything other than saying how stupid it is.
Oh, I know that. But this thread exists, and talking about how stupid some gameplay vs. story discrepancies seem to be is its topic, right? A lot of things in the story don't really make sense, but we can't do anything about it other than mentioning it on the forum. Who knows, with some luck, SE will see that there's a call for slightly more logic in the story and heed it.

Sprint was invented after the calamity.
Before the Calamity, a healer's HP was averaged at around 2.5k in the BiS gear. Benediction was on a 15min CD. Holy was on a 5 min CD and used up ALL your mana. There was also server lag, and no AoE markers so dodging was also much harder. Kobolds were also lvl 50+ in certain areas. There were mini bosses in the mines that took at least two parties to tackle.
We can keep doing this all day if you wish.

Lets.
How do you accidentally wander into a stronghold? Surely there are guards or other Kobolds wandering around their homes. And White Mages arnt the type to go looking for a fight.
Also, using 1.0 mechanics isnt a very fair argument point. Seeing how things drastically change. I dont see how bringing up the lag thing is relevant. Until we have a cutscene where someone suddenly vanishes and comes back saying "sorry, folks are using Netflex" Then its irrelevant. About the lvl thing. In-game his lvl is "???" So you cant bring up the lvl 50 argument. Remember this is the LEGENDARY white mage. He likely created a huge bulk of White Magic spells and only actually used a handful. And if thats the case, then his lvl must be HUGE If youre bringing up game mechanics then you need to lvl your job up 5 times to learn a new spell. And seeing how in 3.0 were getting new spells. He has to be at least lvl 60.

The Kobold boss Third Order Patriarch Zu Ga in the mine had also "???" as a level and had a small army around himself ^^

But it must be weak enough for lvl 50 characters to be able to beat him, even if its a group. The Kobold boss Third Order Patriarch Zu Ga in the mine had also "???" as a level and had a small army around himself ^^
