I'm sure they have some sort of contract with them, but it shouldn't be forced upon players to use their option. It's just silly.

Insulting people in the counter argument isn't going to change their minds. It will make them stick harder to their opinion regardless of whether or not it's right, and think less of your opinion simply because you insulted them. In essence, if you want to try and change someone's mind, come up with a well thought-out response and don't be a dick.
Ive used payment methods like this before, so im not that fuzzed about it.
I wouldnt mind start paying subscription fee as the game is like today. Hope this F2P Campaign of theirs dont SE that much that they end up bankrupt. Not sure how the world economy impacts SE finacially, but just wondering what the current crisis in US and rest of the world will do to them.
I might only have been here for about 2 months, but im loving this game already. Wish i also picked up FFXI instead of WoW back in my daysAll those years wasted lol
XI - Darkshade - ShivaXIV - Shade Highwind - Figaro
Sure, the game is heading in the right direction, but you need more than direction. It has a lonnnng way to go before SE can even think about making this game profitable. You start charging a subscription right now and the player base will drop like flies. There are so many technical problems with FFXIV and Crystal Tools. SE would be better off shutting the game down and building a completely new game with a licensed game engine like Unreal. http://youtu.be/RSXyztq_0uM
AoC started very bad, and when they got every thing fixed people didnt give them a 2nd chance, and now its F2P.
will FFXIV face the same thing?
XI - Darkshade - ShivaXIV - Shade Highwind - Figaro
Simple equation for a bright future.
Summons with voice over = Cash Money
Esper, Aeon, Guardian Force, Summon, Eidolon, Primal, Avatar.....can we make up our mind please?

Exactly. XIV has brand recognition, then there is also the power of word of mouth, and the fact that its the only MMO on the market (aside from XI) that offers a coherent story with cutscenes. The current engine works just fine too, as it's seen some lighting improvements with the last update, and they are continuing these improvements.
They've stuck it out this far, and switched up dev teams, they arent pulling the plug on XIV any time soon...especially since its still a mainline FF title.

I've never had an issue with the service personally. What exactly is the big issue with it? Is it just the fact that it's a middle man between you and SE?To be honest, a part of me wishes Square Enix would bury FFXIV for good. The reason? Their choice of payment processor, ClickandBuy.
My situation with them is untenable, and I am not interested in retaining them as a payment option, nor am I interested in wasting an extra $5 on a monthly subscription through UltimatePay's game time cards.
At this point in time, I am about to be forced to have my bank cards cancelled and replaced due to ClickandBuy's utter failure to respond to my complaints. I have to take measures to protect my financial stability.
This is the one thing Square Enix has failed so far to understand regarding ClickandBuy, and soon, they will be forced to shutter FFXI and FFXIV because of it.
