XI - Darkshade - ShivaXIV - Shade Highwind - Figaro
Exactly. XIV has brand recognition, then there is also the power of word of mouth, and the fact that its the only MMO on the market (aside from XI) that offers a coherent story with cutscenes. The current engine works just fine too, as it's seen some lighting improvements with the last update, and they are continuing these improvements.
They've stuck it out this far, and switched up dev teams, they arent pulling the plug on XIV any time soon...especially since its still a mainline FF title.

I was referring to when the console release happens. Word of mouth, early reviews, beta impressions along with the fact that many PC titles not doing so hot in comparison to their console version it's a surprise the PC version sold the 600K+ copies it did world wide. - and it probably did on the brand name alone.
XI - Darkshade - ShivaXIV - Shade Highwind - Figaro
This. I doubt any other MMO would have been able to sell that much given the poor beta phase and the terrible reviews it got.I was referring to when the console release happens. Doubt it was only on name brand alone, sure there are many FF fans that got the game because it was FF, but a MMORPG is a different beast, take XI for example at its peak it had 500-600k players, and FFVII alone sold 10million, hell even FFXIII sold 6-8millions, yet both MMORPGS of the FF franchise, have never even sold 1million, let alone hold more than half that number in subs(And thats XI)I was referring to when the console release happens.
