FFXIV has a lot of casual elements which, frankly, actually make the game more enjoyable IMO.

Quickly off the top of my head:

-I like that gear doesn't blow up or downgrade on a failed meld.
-I like that RNG isn't a 'Korean MMO' level of stupid. (Nothing I've seen so far, pre-nerf atma included, is that bad in FFXIV.)
-With regards to item stats, it could be a little more complex and/or transparent, but it's pretty easy to understand as it is right now.
    -Hildibrand.

I say its casual, but that was mostly based on coming off of FFXI. So in comparison to other titles, I wouldn't know. FFXIV was a lot easier to catch up on once it came out on PS4. In about a year I'm pretty much geared up on 3 jobs and up to date with main content except for 1/3 of coil and a couple EX primals. Relic farming was not as bad from the previous title so that's more laid back as well. Now when it comes to learning mechanics there's a bit of a curve. The hard core players will plow through it like the company of heroes march against primals. While casual will hold off until they get geared enough or seen enough how to's. Combat wise casual players that take their time learn not to randomly button mash like its PSO. While the Hardcore players have rotations down to a science like Tekken tournament players have counters and combos down to a pixel.

Exactly, you do not need to be "hardcore" to clear anything in game. Our static raids casually due to having to adjust every week to members RL schedules and we have cleared and farmed everything outside savage. Theres too many variences in players to label them in to two groups.

I seriously doubt this is the case for most of the people complaining about content nerfs. Most of the people complaining just don't want the filthy casuals getting through the content.
In my FC are 3 statics that are still practising through FCoB. You can believe me or not. But they are getting more and more in panic mode, because its getting unlikely, that they will finish it before the nerfs are coming.

The game could use more love for the hardcore PVPers. I think we might be losing some audience to WoW because of the neglect of the Wolves' Den, it would be nice to see a good, competitive PVP scene for FFXIV .

Only issue I had was the fact Coil had an exclusive story to it. Cuz I only cared about the story and not the gear, I welcome the nerfs. Now that SE has fixed that issue with the expansion, I'm even more happy. Why they didn't do it like the primals to begin with is beyond me. Idk how people love the fact that every mechanic can Instakill you. When Alexander HM comes out, I'm gonna give it a go knowing that I can do it without the fear of missing out on my story. Sure the instakill mechanics will be there but I can go with a clean state and maybe view Coilish content differently than I view it atm.

I don't care what of "core" this game is. I think its fun, relaxing, and i breath of fresh air compared to other MMOs out there. Now if only there was a "map chat" to make it feel like there was a community...
