The term, "filthy casual" cracks me up, since it is typically the "hardcore" players that are filthy(from not bathing), fat(from eating hot pockets and never getting any type of excercise), and forever alone because they never go outside and get fresh air because they need to spend 80 hours a week playing video games. Congrats on that, I guess?

Go ahead and try to squeeze this game into a category if you feel you must. The fact is, it really doesn't fit into any of them.

Leveling Experiance: Cap level possible in 1-2 weeks
    Gear: 100% drop rate
    Open World Competition: None
    Dungeon Difficulty: Low
    Top Tier Raid: Challanging
    Alliance Raid difficulty: Easy
Average Party Size: 4/8 (low Man)
Alternative Rewards: Tokens (Bis Gear for doing lower tier content)

I am not sure how anyone can say FFXIV is designed for hardcores. The only thing that is even relatively hardcore is coil, and even that would get a 5/10 compared to other mmos. SO I would say coil is midcore at best.

If you try to play FFXIV really hardcore you will run out of content 1-1.5 months after each patch. That there alone makes this a midcore/casual focused mmo. This is one of the most casual mmos on the market to date.

So stating that in MY OPINION the game was casual and easy is trying to be a badass? Huh? The thread asked our opinions and I gave mine. I guess some people just have an inferiority complex. You're acting like I said it was fact and anyone who disagreed was a casual, which I didn't. I strictly said it was my opinion.

He's always like that lol. I feel like it's casual because the bits of hardcore content is like...1 thing...which is Coil...and even then it's like certain parts of Coil.
And owning a house that no one else can get because reasons...and the Bot/RMT's junk.
Game does try to cater to both sides of the grass though, I just like people who want HARDER stuff may be on the dry side...
Alexander is up-coming so there is more to do then.

Some people want a clear run without fails in one go, well if you have a good sync with your team then yes, in DF we can't do that and don't whine if people make mistake. If they make same mistakes then better ask yourself whether your guide delivered to them directly or you just shouting like a mad man.

I watch 5 times guide vid 30 min long about t5 but in the end I screw-up 3 times that caused team wipe, but my FC friends can accept it so there is no issue with it. I'm not really understand what do people expect by watching vid can make new player go without fail.

From my point of view, this game is fairly casual. But some people said after t6 there will be more challenging.

From personal experience, the most complaining I've heard about nerfs has come from casual players who want to be able to challenge the (unaltered) hardcore content on their own time. "Casual" doesn't mean "has no skill" or "doesn't enjoy a challenge," it just refers to the people who aren't on the cutting edge of the hardcore raids. A lot of players are casual players due to the amount of time they are able to spend on the game. That doesn't mean they don't want to try the harder aspects of it, just that they have less time in which to do so, meaning it takes them longer to get through things than the hardcore players. There's no reason they shouldn't be able to enjoy the game at their own pace without having it nerfed into oblivion before they can ever get to it.

I think the most entitled ones are the players who demand that content be nerfed so that everyone can clear it easily. Not everything is meant for everyone, and there's nothing wrong with having some content that's restricted to the people who are willing to put in the time and effort to obtain it. Personally, I'm not into fishing or the sightseeing log and the whole process of getting artisan's stuff/lucis seems horribly tedious and frustrating, so I'm not really putting much effort into those. I'm not about to demand they be made easier to complete so I can finish them; I recognize that there are lots of people who enjoy them the way they are. I'm not one of those people, and that's fine. People need to stop thinking they're entitled to everything just for playing the game.

So I'm sending this from my cell bare with me.
I'll start by saying this is all in imo and English is not my first language.

You should all define casual or hardcore in your head before reading more. Now casual is consider none raiders. Players who do not clear content when it's New. I'm not sure why people started calling someone hardcore because they do what they like when it first comes out but that's the General idea.

I think the General definitions are completely wrong. For one I see hardcore vs casual as a gaming ethic. Do you perfect games. Do you challenge yourself? Do you spend hours upon hours to achieve what you want? If you say yes Then you are a hardcore gamer. In mmos somehow people who raid decided they were unique abd deserved to be called hardcore. That's silly. Just because you challenge content when it comes out does not make you hardcore. You can log in twice a week with a competent group and clear content. So now you're a badass? No sorry. The time that you put into the game makes you hardcore. If you spend hours raiding or dungeon crawling everyday you are hardcore. But my main issue with hardcore vs casual people only think raiding. Is this dungeons and dragons? No you can craft you can gather you can mb play. Are you saying the crafter spending upwards of 10 hours a day is a casual? Just because he didn't do New raid content? Then raiders I think you are casual because you didn't complete bonding ceremony content. Try beating the love raid boss lol. Anyway my point is people need to stop being so 1d and think big picture.

As far as ffxiv goes its neither casual nor hardcore. Its whatever the player decides. Its a good medium. There are easy crafts and hard crafts. Easy dungeon content and hard content. Easy gathering and hard gathering. But simply choice of content Doesn't decide gaming ethic.

Thanks for the read. Inb4 flame it's my IMO.
    Bye Felicia

I NEVER EVER EVER EVER watch a video before attempting content. It's a stupid expectation and people should stop.

This game is only for lvl50s, if the attitudes I've experienced from others in the game is any indication. If you're not already lvl50 by the end of the week, you're casual, I guess. Just thinking about that exhausts me. How can people play an online game.. all day, all night -.- I'm too old to do that.
