Yeah, you can't really do that, it's part of the main story. You can't just magically make it not main story. Not asking for less content. I'm asking for several hundred quests be removed and re-added as optional content for the base story. They should unlock as you complete base storyline quests that actually make the story push forward. There is no "loss" of content here.

So basically, there might as well be nothing at end game, because you don't get anything for it.
They would have to make the existing 'important' storyline quests worth CRAPTONS more EXP in order to make up for the loss from the 'optional' content. And all that 'optional' content would end up being played anyway because it's either that or grind FATES when you get to a point to where you're underleveled for the next storyline quest. Not asking for less content. Lets put on our brains for a second.
Ok, lets do this: Take 100 quests out of the main story. Now add them as optional quests with a new Icon. They unlock when you do "The Real Story". These quests will be experience quests now that people can optionally choose to do to know and learn more about the characters. Now I don't feel like a paperboy, and you get your lore and story. Everyone wins!
That is what i'm asking, not content removed.
They could also cull a couple quests and actually make said quests double, or triple the experience. Reward 45k experience instead of 10k like a normal quest would. They have MANY options they could do.
Believe it or not those quests your trying to make optional is part of the "real story" you can't just make them something they aren't.Lets put on our brains for a second.

I think OP this game isn't suit for your taste.
WoW can let you skip everything only by purchasing level Boost.
You can play end game content happily without knowing nothing about the lore itself.
FF is story based game, I don't want it removed. I have plenty of other class that I'm not level yet, can use to take old quest.
I still don't know all the secret about Eorzea yet, don't take it from me.

I love the hilariously tonedeaf argument of "this isn't a hero's work!" for complaining about the fetch quests, and it's something I see often. A hero is someone who has humility and respect for others; someone who doesn't see tasks beneath her/him and wants to help others.
Basically, a hero isn't someone whose only trait is punching things (or stabbing things or setting things on fire etc.) really really hard and only does "epic" things. If you want a game like that, they're out there. This one isn't, and I'm very glad for it.

Yeah i'm betting dollars to donuts this changes. And even if it doesn't, you still get gil and items, and that's before considering the rewards from the quests you must also do.

I don't want to do that, I just want to kill heroes like you. I want to be the reason your doing fetch-quests and I want to watch you do them and laugh at your suffering as I burn your villages and take your woman.I love the hilariously tonedeaf argument of "this isn't a hero's work!" for complaining about the fetch quests, and it's something I see often. Unfortunately, there are not games like that anymore. MMOs these days are all about being heroes and epics, not about causing other players suffering. There arn't many things like that anymore, unless you count SWTOR - which story completely separates you from anyone else.
I can't help it. I have an evil personality.
