The game has been doing fine with the jobs we have now. Its funny some posters think that putting a requirement behind new advanced jobs will somehow kill the game.
Add that to the list of things that will kill the game I guess.

How so? IF I had bought World of Warcraft with all the expansion on the day Mist was released I could have played a monk from the get go. When Anarachy Online released the new classes with the shadowland expansion the new classes were open to anyone that had the expansion.
And can cite games like: Starwars Galaxies, The repopulation, Ultima Online, The Secret World, and Eve Online as games that are not class locked.
Do not get me wrong the statement "The Devs have decided that they wanted to do this, and understand that new players might be turned off and not come play." is okay with me. They have their internal set of metrics and goals that we do not have access too
Well they just paid for the expansion, if you do not give them enough of a reason then they have no reason to BUY it.All the time people have spent in here complaining about how things are gated behind completion of the MSQ... is time that could've been spent completing the MSQ.
As for the argument about making things more accessible to brand new players... why the silver platter? What exactly is it that they're entitled to?
An expansion to a base game that they also bought at the same time. If they see no reason to buy the expansion because they need to play the base game first oh well, maybe they will change their minds after playing the base game. If not, oh well.
Vet. players arguing about how a fictional demographic of new players feel about potentially not having access to advanced Jobs immediately.
Why?
Again - people buy games to play them.
The iLv argument will probably be moot as theres no way it will be left like that. There will be a smooth progression in the main story quest, you can count on that.
Beyond that, this really isn't that much different to any other young MMORPG at an expansion launch. New players will all have to do the previous leveling content. The WoW paid level-cap service is an exception because it is already a very old game. But FFXIV:ARR is really new. This is only the first ever expansion.
Doing the main story quests itself will be leveling up and will most likely dish out whatever gear is required.
I see a lot of people complain that new players will be stuck at level 50 trying to raise their iLv to 90 to finish the main story quest trials. I don't think it'll be a problem. It'll obviously get adjusted.

― Ernest Hemingway
I work for a Fortune 500 company as well (I'm contracted by a wholly owned subsidiary of one). I'm sure close to 10% of the US work force works directly for one of those companies, and more than that indirectly. It has no bearing on business sense.Sure it does. You would be an asset to any major corp that makes decisions that rank in the millions of dollars. Position in the company is irrelevant. Most of these companies love to recruit and develop from within too.
My position with said company is meaningless. It is the scope and size that is important. And that is what I am referencing.
I'd trust a farmer over a sandwich artist with business advice, because the farmer has more experience in the business world than the Fortune 500 employee.
I'm not sure why this keeps getting brought up. Just because the new jobs become accessible at level 30 doesn't magically mean the current players had to work any harder than new players to obtain those jobs. Now, I get what you're saying. However, SE doesn't have to roll out red carpet in the form of a free boost to level 50 or new jobs they can access the moment their character is made. If we had to go through all of that shit, they should have to go through it, too. It's only fair. Just because they jumped on the bandwagon at the time of an expansion, that doesn't mean they're entitled to some easy ride. If the new/potential player doesn't like it... Oh, well. That's an MMORPG for you.
Not really, in a new expansion: "Everyone!" pretty much starts on the same page. Older levels are made easier because of friends/gear/powerleveling.The iLv argument will probably be moot as theres no way it will be left like that. There will be a smooth progression in the main story quest, you can count on that.
