"that moment when..." you realize you are playing on an English-speaking NA server.

Like the poster above, I too play on a JP server and never experience this level of trolling, rudeness or otherwise 指示厨 (shi-ji-chu) behaviour.

I've ran with plenty of Japanese players in FFXI and I can tell you the difference:

When they hit join queue button or otherwise commit to something, they take that commitment seriously.

They tend to not inflict themselves on the rest of the group (like some NA people think they can get away with).

There are exceptions, but the concept of face (how they appear to their peers) means more to them.

True, but it's also 仕方ない (it can't be helped).

They may not want to group with us EN players (we may not be their first choice of teammates or anything), but they will run it if the DF groups us with them, and they will try to make the most of it by being respectful (even though, behind the surface, they may just be putting up with us out of politeness hoping and praying EN player doesn't snap and go crazy mid run).

I always do my best to be respectful of my teammates and fitting in. Because, quite frankly, it's quite sad when a group run ends early (and incomplete) because of "shijichu" behaviour -- and of all the groups I've been in (back in the early days of 2.0 that is), it was always an EN player being shijichu.
