About that Ilberd might be Gaius. I think thats totaly ridiculus, since Ilberd and Rauban know each orther since a long time. Also Ilberd said to Rauban, " you become soft ", words from someone that knows him deeper . So it cant be Gaius. Btw who mension that Ala Midgo was taken by the Empire with the same events that happened on Uldah? You mean that the city state was taken by destroying the city from the inside, using corruption and betrayls? I thought that the city was taken just using the full force of their army, maybe using the Agrius?

Through subterfuge Gaius turned the populace of Ala Mhigo against their king and struck when the defenses of the city state began to crumble at the prospect of civil war, allowing him to capture the city with minimal bloodshed. Gaius earned renown among Eorzea due to his abilities as a commander and his sensibilities as governing administrator by ruling the conquered stronghold as an Imperial Viceroy.

You say it could not be him because himself and Raubahn knew each other. So, you don't think he could of caused the citizens to go against their king as Ilberd? He could of kept the secret beyond his conquest of Ala Mhigo. They only mention they were war buddies. Ul'Dah is similar that the sultana was assassinated, causing the syndicate to take over, likely leading to chaos and rebellion within Ul'Dah. When it is at a weakened state of internal affairs and their guard is taken down to outsiders, then Gaius would take that opportunity to seize it while also causing minimal bloodshed in the process.

It is only a theory, I just think the case is stronger because both Ilberd and Gaius are voiced by Richard Epcar and even sound the same in cutscenes. Also the fact that Gaius is confirmed a Highlander himself and we have never seen him without his helmet.

I guess we will just find out in June, right?

Hmm... now that I'm thinking about it, I'm starting to believe the Ilberd = Gaius theory. For all we know, "The Ivy" storyline was just a red herring to prove Iberd's loyalty to the Crystal Braves/Scions and put us into a false sense of security in regards to the Garlean Empire.

my theory on this is that Gaius is alive and hiding. had he succeeded he would have been a hero to the Garlean Empire. but since he failed he can't show his face without presenting something or he will likely be demoted or arrested for acting alone and I think Ilberd is in league with him. if he was able to bring back the eminent capture of Ul'Dah the Empire would likely overlook the loss of Praetoreum and the Ultima Weapon.

no doubt it would be a bit weird but remember the 1980s transformers cartoon? Optimus Prime and Ironhide interacted often and were the same voice actor

I hope the story for heavensward not only takes our character to a different place in more ways than location, I would like the multiple choice responses back. I didn't like how they were omitted during 2.55 final scenes, I felt taken out of the story, and not in a good way.

The story and where it takes my character means more to me when I have to be one of their actors.

On the discussion of Ilberd being Gaius I would like to think this is true simply because I can't imagine any other normal person (unless possessed by an ascian like Lahabrea which clearly wasn't visible in Ilberd's case) other than the warrior of light taking on Raubahn solo and winning.

One thing that does puzzle me is if Ilberd was Gaius and the one behind turning the populous against their king in Ala Mhigo, surely Raubahn would of recognised him as the traitor of ala mhigo in the first place other than his "brother" Ilberd. But then Raubahn isn't exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer as he seemed oblivious to every single plot until it was too late anyway.

One other thing that lies in the favour of it being Gaius is that he found out about the Garlean Spy, Eline very easily it was almost as if he KNEW she was a Garlean spy and essentially used her as a scapegoat to allow him to further solidify his leadership of the Crystal Braves. also getting rid of her as she is likely to of been the only person that could of possibly identified him as Gaius and blowing his cover.

Furthering on from this Gaius loved the Ultima weapon and put all his resources into this in an attempt to take over eorzea in one fell swoop. So upon hearing about Omega and the monetarists aiming to dig that out of the ground it makes further sense for him to infiltrate and get his hands on a new shiny weapon for his garlean empire. I could forsee a repeat of what is about to happen instead this time its Gaius and Omega instead of Ultima.

For me, 2.0 "season finale" was simply amazing. Yes, they are plot holes here and there, but well that is not deal breaking for me.
FFXIV has indeed delivered to me some memorable moments and has some TRULY AMAZING cut scenes.

The whole Nanamo deal is understandable. Imagine if they BLOCKED us all from Uldah? it would be correct. So as long as they have some reasonable explanation for it im fine.

I am very excited to see what Heavensward wil bring

Well, if we could do it in cut scenes, which would be a nice feature.

Wish there was a way to alter the length of it, like a macros' /wait command.
