Talking about pre casting Medica II before a Tank pull. It's bad and you shouldn't do it. And boss wise it's talking about last boss in WoD. She has no frontal cleave and pretty much attacks only the Tank apart from her mechanics and a targeted AoE that follows the target. There is no reason a Healer can't stand in the middle for it. It's actually easier to target both sides of the room from the middle and safer because you don't have to worry about anyones beam hitting you. The rest of you said isn't relevant to what we were saying.

Back on the "bad groups to be in" stories. I'm really hating on Bards that don't use any of their songs. In the grand scheme of things you can tell when a Bard isn't doing it's job because their MP will be full all the time. A lot of this comes from there being no practical use for the songs in solo play. Not even the Job quests give any reason to use them.

I normally play Whitemage but occasionally I bring my Bard to a duty. For normal dungeons it's really not necessary to use my songs. Only times I use them is on a long boss fight and I see the healer's mana dropping low. I've met with mixed results.

A. Healer doesn't notice it at all that he gets his mana back up.
B. He thanks me for it.
C. Basically pretty rude about having enough mana, so he doesn't need the *beep beep beep* ballad.

So yeah. Don't always blame the Bard for not playing songs. Some healers can be pretty toxic.

There are a few occasions you should be playing manasong. As soon as one of the healers die. Or when the fight is lasting way more than expected. Or dozens raises occured. But this is only possible when you're not in Requiem Foe anyway. If any of the above situations occur too early, you're likely under Requiem Foe and perhaps low on mana yourself. Won't blame any bard for that. It's fine, we'll wait until you get it back yourself, for a refill ;p

I've encountered absolutely none who would get rude about receiving mana in those situations. I play both as a bard and whm. And use macro for both.

As a bard, I always keep an eye on the hp/mp bars (maybe because I'm a whm before anything, and can't help looking at it) and a whm will never have to ask me this. As a whm, I always have an eye on my mana, my buffs/debuffs and my position. I will know at all times where the bard(s) is. And believe me, all whm who have at least played a bit as such, know what the manasong buff icon is like. We know when we're being buffed ^^

If you have no thanks from it, it's the whm being rude indeed, or a quite terrible whm imo, for not recognizing the icon imo. This would be "bad", rather than "rude"

Yesterday i was running haukke manor on my scholar. The two dps were both bards. Every time the tank would make a pull they would both start spamming their aoe attacks and start pulling enmity off the tank. Obviously this caused them to start taking a ton of damage and caused me great stress. About halfway through the dungeon the tank says "so are all bards retarded, or just you two?" They didn't respond, but they took the hint and cleaned up their act for the rest of the dungeon. It was overall pretty funny.

On the other hand, sometimes even this would please me. As BLM, I've been in too many parties with 1 or more bards and had to specifically ask for it. 50/50 whether or not I actually get it after asking.

As SCH I request it, too; once I had a bard claim that it wouldn't help much, anyway. I gently pointed out that his full MP bar wasn't helping much, either, and he started playing it.
