Some groups just don't have the right stuff to do it. My first group failed and disbanded after many fruitless attempts, but my second group had people who were willing to give direction and people who were willing to listen. We got close to hitting the time limit on our final attempt. Not to mention, he was half a second away from completing an attack that would have wiped us again, but we got him.

Our group had one tank and one healer on the cannons, the other healer healed the group, the other tank focused on the mobs, and the DPS alternated between boss and mobs, and we had a bard operating the harpoon. We all collaborated to ensure that the harpoon wouldn't miss. We did melee LB3 as soon as it was available, then burned the boss..

The person who organised us all got almost all of the commendations at the end, i got one too for some reason.

Are you frekin kidding me......... You are in practically full 130 gear and this is to hard. How is that even possible. Your in FULL 130 gear. Even with a crafted item thats so expensive >_> .. I think you need to take a step back and maybe your not doing everything you can? Maybe learn to dps better or watch some guides

Took 3 PUG groups for me to clear. Not once did I think "this is too hard nerf plz". In a week or so most people will know whats what, and it'll be steam rolled 90% of the time.

When you enter just assign 2 people to the cannons and 1 person to the harpoon. My group had the OT and myself(healer) on the cannons/snare duty. And a DPS on harpoon duty. DPS focused on the boss, while the main tank kept the mobs under the boss so the cannons could hit all the things. We killed him before he reached the last cannons. I've heard some PUG groups have killed him much earlier than that.

People can buy runs through final coil, so final coil isn't the status symbol it might've been once in game.

They adjusted the Duty Finder algorithm. This is most likely why you keep getting Steps of Faith.

Has nothing to do with that.

Whenever there's a new trial, more people will be queueing for it to get it done for the first time, and as a result the roulette is more likely to sort you into a group that's doing that. The roulette is not truly random; it's weighted based on whatever more people are specifically queueing for at the time.

Wow, it's almost like this isn't a heavily mechanic-driven game and that there isn't any stuff in the game that will make you die/fail if you mess it up no matter what kind of gear you have.

Sorry I have to disagree with you OP. This fight is not hard. It's fun.
If your team members have two brain cells to rub together you will get the fight.

Have OT + weak dps or one heals(sch if you have whm and sch) on cannons. They are also the duo who use snares when applicable. When boss goes to do swipe attack, they move to the second set of cannons. Needless to say, cannons kill the adds, DPS burn the boss.
Have MT + Main heals corral adds + stay in FRONT of boss at all times so that the mobs are within canon fire at all times.
Lastly have one person on Dragonkiller and use it where and when it applies.
Rinse and repeat.

I hope that SE continues to add more content like this.
I enjoyed the challenge the first time around and I enjoy the fight even more now.

Yep, one person can definitely do all that, and handle all the adds on his own too.

This trial can be very easy or very hard. It requires a bit more coordination than most other trials in that at least 5 people have to be working together and following mechanics correctly. I failed several times (as WAR) because I was paired with (often) a terrible tank that would regularly provoke large adds off of me and carry them out of range of the cannons (for completely unknown reasons). A couple of times we had DPS working the cannons that apparently couldn't figure out how to aim them properly and almost never hit anything. Once or twice the person in charge of the harpoon would fire it immediately when we called for snares. This happened 3 times with repeated instructions on the actual way it should be done each time.

But yeah, all you really need is a healer to heal, a tank to pull mobs in range of cannons, 2 people to fire cannons/ work snares, and 1 person to work the harpoon. At all other times just don't die so much and continually deal damage. Of course, if well geared I think you could avoid the mechanics almost entirely. Have a tank and healer grab up all adds while everyone else just damages the boss. His health is low enough that cannons aren't truly necessary. 1,200-1,300 DPS (as a team) should be enough to kill him in time.

Um..no amount of item level or dps is going to win this fight unless the party connects all the dragon killers and remove most of the mini bosses from the field. Party misses even one dragon killer and it's a wipe. So if the party doesn't coordinate it self, there is no winning.
