My predictions about what will happen. And I know I'll be right.

- Nanamo isn't really dead. She knew that the vial contained some kind of poison. And I've seen enough shows/movies to see the plot twist of "I drank something that put me in a sort of comatose state.". And the handmaiden being a double agent on the side of Nanamo.
- Scions dead? Please...I kind of wish they were though. I hate being this important hero, can't I just be the adventurer who happens to be the right man at the wrong time? But S-E is just pulling a FF6 here. And we'll end up finding each of them and gathering them once more again. *insert "searching for friends music" of ff6" (youtube it)

And then all I could think is... so what's going to happen with the culinary level 50 quest? How does this work if you do that quest AFTER you finish the 2.55 storyline?

As long as that is a job quest, think at it as you doing all of that, in a different time, pre-2.55. See her when you know she had been poisoned, will be no more different than start the game with an alt, and see her the first time (again).

I don't know what happened to the others but I really don't believe AT ALL that Nanamo is dead.

Did you see how long they lingered at showing us the bottle and how depressed she looked like and how slowly she prepared to take her sip? She definitely knew what was going to happen. Maybe it's one of those "fake my death"-potions.

Spoilers, yada yada

While the cutscenes were shocking, which is usually a good thing in a story, there were so many holes in the ending.
The Warrior of Light didn't have their weapon during the chaos to attempt to fight their way out of the situation, but the WoL made no attempt to mention Nanamo's plan, or request Momodi bring evidence of where the poison came from. Their name could have been cleared.
Everyone acted as if a conspiracy was a shock. It wasn't. They didn't take the Crystal Braves issue seriously (shame on the WoL), and ignored the Syndicate.
As to the characters, if Nanamo is really dead...I might be able to tolerate that, but Yda, Papalymo, Y'shtola, Thancred, and Minfilia...by the Twelve that better not be more than a story bait. If the only characters I've liked are really dead, I don't think I could stomach playing XIV anymore. -summons Scion minions- /cry

It is possible it's a faked death so the Monetarists could be unhindered in their control over Ul'dah. They blame the Scions/Raubahn for attempting to ursurp the throne in an attempt to cause civil war/unrest. Anyway, I doubt Ul'dah will be stable even after this turn of events. I could see Ul'dah going into civil war with Crystal Braves/Bass Blades against Immortal Flames. Even though one was a traitor, the others would be loyal to their leader.

The only way that we'd believe her to be truly dead is get a cut scene later of her funeral open casket with flowers around her body. The sultana deserves a funeral so grandiose that everyone would have to attend, even if the one watching is covered in a robe or using a glamour prism to hide their identity. Sadly some people would think "Hey, maybe it was a body double." We'd probably need a literal quote from a developer that "She is Dead or Alive" for the community to settle down.

I really hope that at least some of them stay dead. It would be pretty cheap after all the emotions it brought for them to all come out and say: Hahaha, false alarm. I saw the grieving Raubahn and him loosing his shit and I don't want that to be for nothing. Nanamo and at least one of the Scions who isn't Y'shtola should stay dead.
Also I would really hate if SE retconned some of the deaths just because a few here say they don't wanna play 3.0
You hear that Yoshie? This aint a comic book. People die when they are killed and stay that way.

PS: The story was fine as it was. Although I didn't get why this was referred to as a mini calamity. It was a pretty normal sized one I say.

Really great story. Devastating but beautiful. Really well linked to the Heavesward too.

The final part with Scions and thinking about the future, it had a very FF6 vibe when the world destroyed you were searching for friends... because they are not really dead, we know hehe.

Can't wait for 3.0 story now. Hope we'll have a quest to free Raubhan and have our revenge!

Can we just blow ul'dah up? I'm sick of seeing it in the MSQ, and I pray that we see LESS of it... But now it seems well still be dealing with these ****y ul'dahns come 3.0....

Reading through the responses I'd say no, but literally nobody who said plothole in this thread ellaborated on what were the holes. Can you be the first to do so? Please?
