My Nanamo QQ
How could you SE!!!!
and one last thing(again sorry, stupid limit).... As one NPC said, that's really the way i feel and how i wanted to just quit the game:
"Papashan: But never you fear! Her Grace is alive and well, I am certain of it. That the incident has not been made public is proof positive of this."
"Papashan: ...Or so I try to convince myself. I...I could not carry on otherwise..."

That fire sword move Ilberd did... could it be Red Lotus Blade making a return?
The hate
I am really getting pissed off by the fact that our character stands there and does nothing at all.
How is it that a guy/girl that can pawn a summon, a warrior of light get taken by 5 npcs
can we not stand there like a dummy ever time a cut scenes is taking place. I should be one shooting all those dam guards
The only reason i went with flames as a GC is because i like those 2 npcs. They cut the horn of the raging bull
and the only lalafel i would not feed to the horde got killed.
The Good
Story was good, how it played out not so much
Aside from what other people here and in other threads said about the player character not acting out in cut scenes, I think I can offer another reason why; animations and different jobs. Whatever fights a cut scene has either uses stock animations or custom animations for the one or two characters that need it. For the player, we can be any job with different weapons and powers, which might require the same scene being animated several times with different animations. Just look at the fight between Raubahn and the backstabber. They both use swords and their animations for the fight go well since their weapons compliment each other and the two characters have similar body builds. Now imagine if we got to fight that snake ourselves in a cut scene with a staff, knives, bows, etc. How would the fight look? Would there be major clipping with custom animations based on the gear we have? How does the player's race/size affect the fluidity of the combat in the scene?
Our character picking up Raubahn's second sword to fight would've been fine enough, I'd say. Whether our characters are blackmages, healers... anyone can pick up a sword, and since we're supposed to be heroes, it's reasonable enough to assume that we'd be useful enough in a fight even if PLD isn't our main class. Anything's better than being an unarmed victim who does nothing but run away. Since apparently all the class/job/crafting quests are happening in time before this part in the story, whether we did them or not, the game can just go ahead and assume that our character knows how to handle a sword properly, anyway.

At this point there is probably A Man Behind The Man Behind The Man. I mean the general theme up to this point has been "it is always the Acsians fault".
Edit: reply to below, The Crystal Brave NPCs are gone from the other city states as far as I can see. They are only still in Rev Toil and Ul'dah.

I don't like the main story of Patch 2.55. I play games for happy and fun. If I want some dark stories, I would go read a novel. Finishing the story really killed my mood on playing.
Beside, as a member of The Immortal Flames, I just walk back into Ul'dah, providing services to the company to gain my seals after all these happened....ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND? Did the story writer though about players who considered Ul'dah as home when writing this story? If this story came out sooner, I would not even bother to pre-order the expansion.

They had their hands tied as figureheads of each nation, imagine them taking sides with the scions, nobody would end up winning that situation except the ascians and garleans which will have 1 enemy less to handle.
