give me Jecht's outfit pls
If I die, forgive me. I used to be a Dragoon.
Ill never understand the fools need to just wave money at the face of developers and tell them "hey, if you use my money sub money to sell me more of the content im already paying you for, ill pay you even more!"
Its a wonder game companies like EA shamelessly screw gamers over... thanks to certain players who bend over and eagerly ask if they can pay for more.
Here's what I think:Am I the only one who doesn't want FFXIV to be filled to the brim with references/armour/whatever from other Final Fantasy games? But as to your point, I'd rather they be in game from the Gold Saucer or from Veteran Rewards (wouldn't mind the odd extra mount on the cash shop). Guild Wars 2 doesn't have a subscription fee so they kinda do need to do that to make money.
FF callouts (eg clothing/mounts from the main characters/storyline in FFI-FFXIII) should be acquirable in-game as level 1 glamor gear, and if you miss the event (eg you had no service, or ignored it) then the items can later be acquired from the NPC (if you had the opportunity to get the item, but maybe forgot to complete the last quest) or the cash shop (if you didn't have the opportunity, eg no service.) There is nothing stopping SE from re-introducing the event again (like they did with Lightning Returns and Shantotto), even if it does end up in the cash shop. Just people might be more peeved at paying for it, and then it being made available for free.
For most of the seasonal event gear, it's probably better to have an opportunity to get "last years" gear by enabling all previous years quests on top of the current years quests for that season, rather than open the cash shop for those items.
Personally, I think FFVI items/gear/clothing are the most relevant to FFXIV and they do not look out of place, so I would probably appreciate stuff from FF6 actually being related to the storyline. The FF7/8/X/XII/XIII gear would look more out of place in the context of FFXIV since FF7/FF8/FFX/XIII have a more technology-advanced point of reference. So these kinds of things should be event-only, and should only be retrieved from the cash shop if the player missed the event.
Everything else should stay out of the cash shop.
EA is extremely blatant with their attempts to screw over gamers, and they kill the developer's companies when they don't make enough money. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...lectronic_ArtsIll never understand the fools need to just wave money at the face of developers and tell them "hey, if you use my money sub money to sell me more of the content im already paying you for, ill pay you even more!"

Go play one of the thousands free to play games out there if you like cash shop so much. Stop trying to encourage cash shop on top of the monthly fee
If you dont want to see any of the glamours mentioned ingame, then what the hells does it matter to you?
I dont get why people that dont even care about them care to comment just because ''its hip to be anti-cash shop''
I guess people are just really really selfish here. They would much rather pay a higher subscription (and have everyone pay a higher subscription) if they want items, then see it in the cash shop. (which would only cost them more money, and not the entire playerbase)then they should have raised the subscription fees. I don't mind being asked to pay a fair price for what I get. I do, however, object to being asked to pay twice for the same thing. Once we've already paid for the entire game and all updates to it, then we should get the entire game and all updates to it, not be asked to pay separately for individual pieces of what we've already purchased.
Ill make the point that I made before, again.
Why pay a hundred euros more for the CE, but scoff at paying maybe a handful of euros for a really cool glamour?
If people truly care this much about their money, they have an odd way of showing it.
No, your logic is amazing. ''havent played every title''?
You havent played a single one.
Way to hyperbole.
These costumes linking to other games is precisely what makes them attractive to people.
Indeed, the internet. Your reply is golden.
Did you understand the OP correctly? Its ironic that you got high rated, as it shows the majority of the ney-sayers on this topic dont actually read and have something sensible to say, they only comment because ''hur hur cash shop be bad''OP why should our subscriptions go towards funding the development of cosmetics that they can charge us a second time for? Surely you would prefer they find the time to simply develop and add such things with regular updates? Or are you one of those types that actively seeks ways to spend more money than necessary?
Them being in the cash shop actually means theres more money to go towards funding the development of the rest of the game. Whereas if they were events, it would mean that our subscriptions go towards funding the development of cosmetics that many wont care for.
Much to my own discredit, I personally do reply to trolls (I hope you are trolls, but sadly most of the time its more..being stupid).
Trying to make a straw man out of my argument by using...a straw man argument. Cute.
But just in the (likely) case, you only used the expression and dont actually know what a straw man argument means, here yo go!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man
Just in case you dont understand:
My argument was a valid comparison. Value versus value. Yet instead of responding to it, you replaced my argument with one you could easily defeat with your own argument. (IE: my argument was a straw man argument, and thus an invalid argument)
The internet: where we toss around definations and expressions without actually knowing how to use them.
Because, why would we actually try to reason? That'd be too embarrassing.

Have you ever thought about getting it from a hard achievement? Or an event? You already pay a monthly fee. All OP's exemple come from F2P titles
Lightning... Lightning...
People that complain about lore and items to fit in the style of the game... Lightning
Lightning got an event, twice, we got her gear... hair, weapons...
Lightning! one of the most awful characters of the worst numeral Final Fantasy
If she visited Eorzea, NOTHING IS SACRED ANYMORE. I prefer to be a variety of any and all other costumes of all other final fantasies before seeing another thread asking for her hair (that sounded less creepy in my head)
If the items are only on the cash shop it will at least be a wall so not everyone gets them, tho the most good idea for both sides will be the event then cash shop.
