Honestly, it was all I cared to read. While it may not apply to you I've seen that disgusting attitude in others, which is why I haven't run CM or Prat since 2.3.
Who peed in your Frosted Flakes this morning? This topic is terrible and your attitude is worse.Everyone's just like, "you suck" "no you suck", everyone's trying to find out who is the bad guy, who the hell cares.
Blame the newbie, blame the farmers, blame the little midget who kicks you in the shin and steals your biscuits, it doesn't matter.
You make a choice, you live with it.
You party with people who are running a dungeon optimally and want to skip everything, suck it up.
You party with people who are fine with waiting so you can watch cutscenes, congratufuckalations, no one cares, enjoy your pissy cutscenes and make the most of it.
Now can everyone just shut up? You're all terrible, game over.
Again I say, a tale as old as time itself because people treat this game as a job.
They are the mean ass managers/supervisors, and the new people get the heat if the job isn't done right or in a snap.
Been there, done that, deal with it at work every day all the time.
Stop. Stop treating people like crap. No one likes to be told off when they're new and you have to have patience. Stop queing for stuff if you ain't got the time.
As a matter of fact you CAN see it in a job perspective.
The vets are the managers: You can help the newbie, and have a fun time and enjoy what they're doing, in the case a CS...even when you been doing the same crap for years you should let them. Don't like it? Don't do it.
Like really...you silent people KNOW you have a new person because they tell you when you go in, if they don't talk it's because they are scared...because look at how you're acting right now.
Just give a little run-down in dungeons and go on about your way. 2minexp =/= 20 min wipe. This ENTIRE thing reminds me of work. Ask questions? Probably get ignored or get told off.
Do something wrong? Told off. Reiterate? Told off. Ain't doing something fast enough? Told off. But that's work, this is a video game where it should be enjoyed and not raced.
I'm getting so tired of people treating others like a piece of crap. I really am, because I've been in the same boat in rl and on this game
AND I am sure people get on to escape the RL crap to have fun, come on here you get Big Daddy crying tears because things didn't get done in 10 minutes.
Sadly, this isn't going to stop no time. It's a shame because I thought I'd escape immature people when I paid for the game, but people act like the F2P 13 year old kids
at like 40 something years old. What a shame. I admit to not being 100% patient but I NEVER vote kick anyone and I just do other stuff like browser the forums
or whatever as we wait. Duty Finder is not the problem, it's the people.

I have to agree with this. As someone who hates the extremes on both ends myself, I generally try to avoid these situations and arguments. In numerous similar cases I've seen of this, both sides make points, but both sides also have major flaws that they aren't seeing in themselves either. I'm generally a guy who likes to help people and thus it may look like I lean towards the "newbies" side of the arguments, but I've seen bad things on that end as well.
As for where I think this thread is going to continue to go...

it is all about respect for one another as human beings. We should greet each other. Respond to other peoples greetings. Inform people if you are new and intend to watch cut-scenes. You should wait for them because it is the right thing to do. If you know you are a player that has a tough time with new content you should come prepared, with knowledge and better than minimal gear because that is what is polite. If someone says they are new, give them the same advice you would give to a good friend because you care about their experience. I mean, life can difficult enough, in this fantasy land can't we at least pretend to be better people? A random act of kindness might actually net you a real friend, who has enough real friends? That is how you get them, you take a chance and care about someone other than yourself.
The real nice thing to do is not expect people to wait and let you watch it if they don't want to wait they have their own lives to live you know so go ahead and watch but don't expect them to stop and don't whine about it if they leave you behind.
Duty Roulette: Expert
Duty Roulette: High Level
Duty Roulette: Low Level
Duty Roulette: Main Scenario
If you are in praet or castrum, chances are its by using this. A roulette added with the specifc intent of getting people to help those who need the story, andx one which rewards you quite generously for the time investment. Why on earth would you consider it wrong to watch the main scenario story in a main scenario story dungeon?
hey I was like every one else who loves the story I was mad that I was told to skip it but saw how long it was and understood that it's not fair to make people wait around that long.Duty Roulette: Expert

Oh and the bonus is to get people to do it not to make people sit around while they wait for the other person.

If it was not SE's intent for people to use the DF for their main story completion, they would not direct people to use the DF to complete said mission in the first place.hey I was like every one else who loves the story I was mad that I was told to skip it but saw how long it was and understood that it's not fair to make people wait around that long.

People are just impatient nobs. If you want a speed run, put up a listing on PF.

Just to add some perspective to my previous post and to some of those "speed runners". I did prae a good 40 times since gold saucer came out to get my card, some as tank, healer, and dps.
Not once did anyone knew or old ask anyone to wait while they watched a CS, or even mention they were the new person if asked. When I was tanking I gave a brief summary for bosses. Most of the time, if there was someone in a CS, the tank waited unless said person said not to wait on him he was watching a CS. Almost every run was done with a soldiery bonus, most claimed they were an alt and not to treat them like they were a "noob", their word. There was a couple times an issue popped up, generally only when the healer trained and the tanks got all "defensive" about that being their job and did the healer want to tank the boss too. Those times an issue came up and it involved someone being new, it was a matter of them not picking up the id and getting access to the magitek mount. This same issue happened with old players as well.
In all of those runs, not once did I use the storymode roulette, nor did I have any party bashing the new guy. The only time I see anything like what is described in this thread is in DF coil, ex primals, towers, or PFs that state to have clear, and then in 4 man dungeon runs where nobody will admit they are the new person and yet it is clear who it is when they enter a boss fight, yet they insist they are not new and deny it until you finally get to the end and they get the map achievement. Even then, I run 4 mans with my cousin and we don't kick that person. It is just idiotic denying you are new and not asking for help.
The "Im new tag" is important. It lets people know to go slower, explain information, and to expect not to pass everything on your first try. It helps the more experienced players know that they need to slow down and be helpful.
However, the doesn't mean "Im new, carry me." Hell no. If you're new, I expect you to be busting your ass out there trying to understand whats being said and applying it in real time. If you're trying, and you die, and we wipe. That's okay. Even if we wipe 2-3 times, as long as youre progressing then its no big deal.
