Umm no...why would they implement a "buff" for increasing movement speed without any reason? I have never heard of an MMO doing that...

Uh FFXI did actually Using the Mog Tablets. If you rested for one tick you got "Quickening" which increased your movement speed until you were attacked or you attacked.

Yes, that gave you a buff for a "reason", people used the Mob Tablets and gives you an increase in speed. But implementing a buff like that without reason is stupid.

This would be a buff for a "Reason" The reason being you travelled a bit of distance on a Paved Road.

It only lasts while on the road itself, Its a travel feature, its not meant for anything but increasing travel speed. Hell When chocobos come to be rideable, as well as personal mounts, They would also get these Buffs.

So Lets say normally running is 100%

Running 100%
Running on Beaten Path 125%
Rented Chocobo 150%
Rented Chocobo on Beaten Path 175%
Personal Mount 175%
Personal Mount on Beaten Path 200%

That is just a guess but that is how it could work.

I think it's a great idea. I usually ignore the paths unless I'm really bored and feel like 'role playing'. Otherwise, I just go by the fact that the quickest route between 2 points is a straight line. I imagine that most people do this. Giving us a reason to follow the actual paths would be pretty cool, IMO.

Definitely
