Can't speak for everyone, but if some of them are like me, the whole Dragoon tanking the floor thing is just poking fun. I like to joke with Dragoons. Try to not take it too seriously.
I play it occasionally myself, so I have the right!

I appreciate that. xD I don't mind people poking fun at us, but when there's talk of not taking a DRG to a fight simply because it's a DRG, I get annoyed.
Exactly this. I might SD unbuffed if I'm at max skill distance or if the situation dictates it, but otherwise I'd rather wait the 2.5-10s it takes to get my buffs up. In t9 p1-p2 I use Elusive Jump after Beam as a substitute to get back quickly without sacrificing a good skill.
Spineshatter Dive's cooldown is fine now I think, but Dragonfire Dive should be reduced to 120 or even 90 seconds. Its potency isn't amazing and the chances you get to actually make it a useful AoE skill are few. Having a shorter cooldown on it would make us more mobile, but remember to use Elusive Jump as a gap closer as well.On second adds phase in t10 for instance, I kill the first group, SD to the second, DFD to the third then Elusive Jump back to the boss if I'm far enough away and don't need to flank for a Heavy Thrust. Works great.

The Recast on Dragonfire Dive is long (as are all the lv50 Job abilities), but as for it not being very potent...as an off global cooldown (and since they removed the animation-lock associated with it) its a nice additional 1200-1500 dmg attack (buffed) to string into the beafy part of a DRGs very long rotation.
Yes the timer is a longer one, but its far from being completely useless. Of course this is if you don't need to use it as a form of quickly moving across the battlefield.
Will hand this on to our dragoon Im main sch and appreciate this hint ^^but remember to use Elusive Jump as a gap closer as well.On second adds phase in t10 for instance, I kill the first group, SD to the second, DFD to the third then Elusive Jump back to the boss if I'm far enough away and don't need to flank for a Heavy Thrust. I definitely don't think it's useless either, but for most fights it's basically a Full Thrust with a three-minute cooldown. :P The movement it offers is nice for add phases but it's so rarely available the way it is now.The Recast on Dragonfire Dive is long (as are all the lv50 Job abilities), but as for it not being very potent...as an off global cooldown (and since they removed the animation-lock associated with it) its a nice additional 1200-1500 dmg attack (buffed) to string into the beafy part of a DRGs very long rotation.

Sorry to burst your bubble but I have over 650 player commendations, all earned as a Dragoon that says otherwise. You may not realize it, but Dragoons are better than you give us credit for.
Other than being easier to use and a piercing debuff, DRG just don't offer much raid utility
