Healers are there to heal, not dps. Respect the role they joined as?
I'm a tank and I'm friendly. Commendations.... hoooo! -Holds up sword and looks through the gaps at the hilt.-
lolwat? how does this even get so much likes? I mean i agree that DPS barely get noticed if they are good, but DPS will never get my Recomm if a healer or tank was noticeable good, because being a good dps is nothing to brag about ..
I wont give out recomms just because someone got a long queue or is being overlooked generally..
I am a new player, and I have been playing as a summoner, scholar, white mage, and black mage. I have been getting commendations and I have giving them after I learnt what they are for lol. I don't really care for those things because I've never seen that features in other MMOs I played (just in case never played WOW, I wonder if they do the same same there). To me all classes are important. There is not class that can be said that is important and the others are meh. A tank will take awhile to get all mobs gone, a DPs can only kill 1-2 monster, healers will take forever since they are support class, and a magic DPs is very weak against physical damage. Overall, if I were to give a commendations, I will give them to people that have been nice/ talking to me during the DF.
Tanks and healers usually get a commendation in groups despite how horrible they played while DPS who do an extremely good job very rarely see one. I don't really have sympathy for you if you do a bad job, no matter what role you play. When you decide to pick a role/job to enter the party with, you are expected to meet standards of said job, if you cannot, then prepare to be criticized.
Why? You can't make a claim like that without some sort of justification. Are you trying to claim that tanking/healing is more difficult? More stressful? What about being a tank/healer, specifically, makes you inherently superior?
When in doubt, assume sarcasm
Basic healing is probably the easiest roll in 4man content unless the group just barely reach the ilvl req or the tank does crazy pulls with 0 CD's.
I normally go WHM on anything that isn't FCOB and i'd estimate i spend about 80% of the time i cleric stance dpsing. having HOT's up on tank with an cure II here and there is normally enough to keep the tank on full hp.
Adding that extra 200-250 ST dps as a healer can really make a big differance in most boss fights and holy on trash/adds.. well that's just OP.
I would never demand a healer to dps, but i would never give my commendation to someone standing around and doing nothing most of the run either.
But thats just my opinion and i'm sure there are others that think that healers should heal and not bother with dpsing.

I've gotten good at recognizing a DPS's contribution by identifying their rotations being used and things like is the monk flank attacking when they should etc. Typically I've been giving DPS comms more than healers and tanks whenever I see a DPS performing good. I find it really easy to detect if a DPS is being lazy or really trying and considering that a tank / healer has to actually try in order for the group to succeed, a DPS doesn't have to try as hard and we can still win. Therefore DPS who actually are putting effort into the run deserve a comm above the other 2 in many situations.
Same. As a healer main I know just how easy it is most of the time (imo) and how much healing is required. So if I'm tanking or dpsing, and the healer is just standing around doing nothing but occasionally casting a heal, that's not worth a commendation. Are they doing their job? Technically, yeah. But "technically" doing the bare minimum for your job is not what gets commendations!!Basic healing is probably the easiest roll in 4man content...

Sometimes I just give it if someone was particularly nice or had a good attitude, or was talkative. Makes a nice change.
I don't see how what he said equates to low respect for healers. If a healer is standing around doing nothing because no healing needs to be done, that to me isn't a good healer just like a tank that stays unnecessarily in Shield Oath/Defiance for everything isn't a good tank. To me, being good at your job means doing everything you can to make the run go quickly and smoothly. If you're standing around doing nothing because everyone's topped off, you have time to throw some DoTs out there even if you aren't comfortable switching to cleric stance. As Scholar I spend the majority of my time in Cleric Stance and rely heavily on Lustrate and my fairy unless intense healing is needed. I'll even DoT/Bane on big pulls if I hit a crit Adloquium or if the tank has a good CD up.
