People Need to Start Respecting Healers More

Sorry but as a DPS I tend to give it to other DPSs (except to bad ones) and to really good Tanks or Healers otherwise when I play Tank I give it to the Healer and when I play Healer I give it to the Tank. I do this so that every one can have a chance at getting a commendation in a dungeon since when the commendations first started most people tended to give a commendation to either the Tank or the Healer but completely forgot about DPSs now it is not so much the case but I keep doing this none the less.

I must say tho, from reading the thread I never quite realised that the respect for healers was this low.There seem to be a lot of expectation of them dpsing.

but, i usually give commendations to DD, cause most ppl give it to tanks.
Also, commendations aren't for who's a good player, but who's helpful. So if someone is new and someone explains the mechanics, well, they get commendations; otherwise some random DD that didn't suck usually someone that performed well, with shitty gear.

Now thats an idea. I wish we did have this. I can think of quite a few occasions that I could have used this. Excluding your friend, how would you know who go the commendation? What I see alot is people who just leave the instance, most of the time before I can even get the "skip cut scene" menu to come up, they are gone. So who ever is left will get my commendation.

I don't know what " Respect " mean to you tho, Yea I respect everyone.

but I'm not going to give healer my Comm because he or she is a Healer , but I alway give healer benefit the most when everyone did their job good .

I usually get my "share" of comms when healing, but the OP is correct. I usually feel the love after a perfect tanking job a bit more than healing. This sucks because healing requires more effort; tanking requires more knowlege of the battle.

I'll give healers comms if they dps, if they just stand there and heal even though the tanks dont need healing, i dont comm them. As a dps, a brd, i usually get comms because i know how to play my class and people see that. Most of the time i comm tanks, only if they know how to big pull and dont get overwhelmed. I rarely comm dps, maybe a blm every now and then depending on how they play.

I think the issue with the commendation system is that we can only reward one player out of the 3 or 7 remaining group members. If 5 out of the 7 have shown that they are doing their best and they are very kind, who gets the commendation then? Since its a unfair system, I have decided to do the following if a player playing well.

1: On my healer the tank gets the commendation.
2: On my tank the healer gets the commendation.
3: On my dps the dps gets the commendation.
4. If a newcomer has joined the group and he or she is showing great skills, they are going to get the commendation, regardless of their role in the party.

For myself, I commend the one who will actually respond to my Hello at the start of a dungeon or trial.. and particularly more so if the one who can do their job and have a conversation and light fun. If a tank assumes immediately a speed run even though we don't have 2 AOE heavy jobs in the group, don't care how amazing they are, they're not getting my commend.

So I never favor one job over another for a commend, I look for personality. Nothing bores me more then sitting in a dungeon for 35min with 3 silent partners.. might as well be bots at that time for all I care.
