So they don't really offer much, I honestly don't bother to hunts myself.
They're a fast way to farm Soldiery Tomes, as well as Allied Seals, which are tradeable for the same sort of i100 gear as Soldiery. (The S Ranks also give a few Poetics, but given their rarity, it's not a very useful way to farm that.) And there aren't any iLevel requirements to start doing it, so you can jump right from AF (or even the partial AF you'd have in your late 40's) up to i100 pretty fast.

I only ever used hunts to farm for sands/twines. But even then it found it wasn't really worth the grind. Hunts aren't very engaging since they die so quickly and 90% of the time is spent looking/waiting for them. But to each their own, I guess.

Hello and welcome to the endgame!

First of all, I recommend that if you haven't yet, take a good look at the healer forums here. They have some very good discussions on how to play each healer class and what kind of stats you want to focus on in your gear.

Secondly, hitting 50 and having so much content you haven't done yet is very overwhelming, so just focus on the most important things first:

    * Aim to raise your item level to i90+ right away and i120+ with time. For this you have many ways: 1. poetics (level 120 gear upgradable to 130, weekly cap of 450), 2. soldiery (level 100 gear upgradable to 110, no cap), 3. World of Darkness (level 120 gear, one item per week, limitation to be dropped next week!), 4. Syrcus Tower (level 100 gear, no cap) and 5. newest expert dungeons (Amdapor Keep hard, Wanderer's Palace hard and The Keeper of the Lake, level 120 gear, no caps).

    * Get the items used to upgrade your tomestone gear! For poetics gear (i120 to i130) you need Carbontwine (left side pieces and weapon upgrade) and Carboncoat (right side). You can get these from the weekly quest where you have to complete all three Crystal Tower raids. You can also buy these with hunt rewards. (And these also drop in Final Coil, but you shouldn't worry about that yet.) For soldiery gear (i100 to 110) you need Sands of Time (left side pieces and weapon upgrade) and Oil of Time (right side). These drop from Syrcus Tower (your primary farming place) and Second Coil.

    * For your weapon, the first thing you should get (in my opinion) is the item level 110 upgraded soldiery weapon Yagrush. You first buy the weathered version with Unidentified Allagan Tomestone (from Syrcus Tower) and 10 Rowena's Soldiery Tokens which you buy from NPC Auriana in Revenant's Toll for 130 soldiery each (so you'll need 1300 soldiery for the weapon). Then, when you have your Weathered Yagrush and Sands of Time (from Syrcus Tower), you upgrade the weapon to Yagrush at NPC Drake in Hyrstmill (North Shroud). Next week there should be the poetic tomestone weapon (i130 when upgraded) available from World of Darkness. One good alternative is the Shiva extreme weapon (i115 when upgraded) when you get access to that. But I recommend that you start with the i110 upgraded soldiery weapon and use that to progress in content and farm better gear.

    * For content, you should unlock all the three Crystal Tower raids (Labyrinth of the Ancients, Syrcus Tower and World of Darkness) and the weekly quest attached to them. This is the first quest of the quest chain unlocking all the towers.

    * Secondly, you should unlock and defeat all the Hard primals you can starting from this quest. Some of the primals (and dungeons) are unlocked from main story, so keep working on that as well! When you feel you're ready to challenge the extreme versions of the primals, start from this quest.

    * Thirdly, you should try to unlock the expert roulette, as it's the fastest way to farm for poetics. To unlock it, you need to unlock three dungeons: Amdapor Keep (hard), Wanderer's Palace (hard) and Keeper of the Lake. Start this process by unlocking and completing Amdapor Keep normal and Wanderer's Palace normal (these are both level 50 dungeons you can easily do in your current gear). After completing them you can unlock and complete Amdapor Keep hard and Wanderer's Palace hard (for both of these you'll need at least item level 90). You'll unlock the third expert dungeon by progressing in main scenario. You can check this list for all dungeons you haven't unlocked and start unlocking and completing them to unlock other roulettes (mainly daily hard roulette) as well.

Lastly and most importantly, find yourself a nice and friendly Free Company where people run this content with you, answer your questions and help you to progress in the game!
