There are still 3 months until 3.0
I doubt it get removed with a large time span like this until the next big content update.

They will uncap poetics it sometime between now and expansion that much is certain. Otherwise there's essentially no reason to have 120/130 gear unlocked via poetics persay when you will have gear between 51-60 giving better stats.

I however will hold my breath on the next patch. I feel it may come in one of the QoL patches after 2.55.

You're going to get those peoples anyways. Trust me, the date for the game was released not too long ago, and it's shy from being released in August.
This current patch and the next doesn't hold too much anyways. :/ GS and storyline. They should release the floodgates and let everyone get geared up,
gil obtained, etc before 3.0 comes. We have plenty of time to get stuff done, but I feel like it's released so late, people have school less than a month later blah. :c
Don't worry about THAT many people though, FCOB is still a chore to get through but with the time given we should see more people at it.

But this is the exact reason why I think poetics need to be uncapped in 2.55. Have discussed this ad nauseum with my raid group since the unlocking of FCoB info was released....

Unlocking FCoB helps absolutely nobody other than the people who can already farm it. Hell, if anything it will allow really exquisite groups to sell it to people. We are about 5 months into this cycle since FCoB came out. Anyone who is even remotely progressive has already had this content on farm for months. Unlocking FCoB literally only helps those people.

Unlocking FCoB to the masses is not going to allow people without statics and more casual players to farm that gear. They couldn't do it before, removing the weekly cap will not make it happen. And Yoshi P loves his more casual playerbase. I know on my server CPP is normally dead. The very few groups still struggling on turns are there, but it is not a crowd of people. It is quite literally 8-16 people tops after Tuesday. I know I'm on a smaller server, but I have heard similar things from other servers. The crowds in CPP pale in comparison to what was in Wineport or even North Shroud because there is just still a lot of people gated by turn 5 and turn 9.

So will they alienate anywhere from 60-80% of their entire playerbase?? I don't think so. It may not happen with 2.55, but Yoshi made a post in the Gold Saucer sub-forums outlining some changes he wants to make to the Triple Triad tournament model which confirms that we will see small patches from 2.55 to 3.x (2.56, 2.57 etc) that will bring minor adjustments to the tournament at a time. If i130 is going to viable for until we are player level 60 in HW, they can't keep poetics locked for long. Many people play all of the jobs and enjoy that aspect of this game. It just makes no sense to me at all to keep the casuals locked out of progression when that is the majority of this game's playerbase.

I expect poetics to be uncapped at 2.55, but at the very latest 2.57-2.58 (which I assume would be 2ish months before HW drops). I mean hell, even raiders need Poetic gear. Full Dreadwyrm is BiS for absolutely no one.

There ain't anything to do as it is. I also never understood why people care. If we cap everything and there is nothing to do its our faults. People should worry about themselves and how they play. Honestly it just sounds like people are jealous.

    @OP

If the poetic cap was being removed, I would stick around and gear up all my jobs. But since SE has decided not to, I'm leaving after 2.55 stuff and coming back for Early Access.

As nice as that would be I think those should stay in coils for the time being.

I highly doubt they will uncap poetics before 3.0, that's not how it's been done in the past.

2.2 removed philo tomes uncapped myth and added soldiery, with a new raid added (SCoB)
2.4 removed myth tomes uncapped soldiery and added poetics, with a new raid added (FCoB)
    2.55 doesn't follow the pattern

I can see them removing all lockouts and the like closer to release, as a sort of 'reset' so that we can all be on the same page when the expansion launches.

Though, to be fair, giving true consideration to the fact they're making us go through all of 2.0 to access 3.0, they might actually leave the lockout in for a bit after HW drops.

CT also gets the weekly gear restriction removed in this pattern so it doesnt matter.
It also would not make any sense to remove the cap at 3.0, because gear wipe.
