I still feel the rewards of T5/T9 are out of sync with their difficulty, especially when you consider what Shiva Extreme rewards for its mechanic difficulty. And now they're about to remove restrictions on the World of Darkness treasure.

This extends to Titan Extreme and Urth's Fount as well.

There is nothing hard about T5/T9 with the amount of echo they give now. If someone doesn't move from twister on T5 when they see twintania casting twister odds are they will die on Shiva EX too. From what i seen on T5 is that there are a lot of dps who don't use focus target and die to the twister that comes out while one of the adds is out. With some more effort these fights will be easy.

So T9 will be "easy" with more effort? As in easy like Shiva Extreme? They both award i115 weapons after all.

Shiva is also content that came quite some patches after second coil first came out. Not to mention it was not intended to be balanced in relation to the hardcore players capable of beating T9.

Shiva EX, however is a very good example for the OP's argument. Many people were frustrated with Ramuh's EX fight, and ultimately it turned many away from it. Then Shiva EX came out and it's just hilariously easy to the point many people on both sides of the easy /hard argument were turned off. Titan EX shouldn't be balanced to the gearing of future primals/trials simply because people still struggle with it. Garuda / Ifrit / Titan were all relatively easy fights by the time Levi came out, and really the only difficulty of Titan EX is player error with the inability to dodge. If you're capable of actually dodging? Titan EX is a cakewalk.

Also like Rice stated, the difficulty of coil content was balanced against other coils available at the time. They never chose to balance the coil gear against the player skills outside of coil because the less skilled players or those who didn't care to progress in them tended to stay away from it anyway.
