PvP... is not fun. At least, not here in FFXIV. That's why there are so few people queueing.

Frontlines genuinely sounded interesting on paper. But making the arena bigger and throwing in more people doesn't suddenly make it more interesting when the core game is the same thing. The party dynamic goes right out of the window PvP too. Tanks can't tank, healers are always the first to be targeted and DPS rule the day. A team of 8 DPS will do a better job than a classic party, and that's unfortunate. At least in FFXI PvP, tanks had an important role and, yes, could actually tank.

When I first heard of Frontlines I imagined it would be like Guild Wars 2's World vs World combat. Large scale battles with new game dynamics to get our teeth into. Maybe keeps to control or Allagan tech to acquire. We get a couple of nameless NPC mobs in the middle of a melee.

So yeah... the most obvious thing SE need to work on if they want PvP to be successful... make it FUN to play. Most people wouldn't give two hoots about the rewards as long as they're having fun battling against or with their friends.
