    long PvP queue rant

Its my hypothesis that if more people queue up for pvp then the wait time will be reduced. And I don't like waiting... sodo it now, queue up. See you in the den... (don't be scared)

I do love PvP but why Comic Sans... just say no. As for queue times I'm not sure what else they can do to entice more people to give it a shot.

Well, the most obvious thing is to have similar gears level 120-130 via PvP. Right now, it's mostly for vanity. The gear has to be an attractive options. I understand that they do not want to make PvP a priority, so that you absolutely have to have the gears if you want to get best in slots. Right now, the reward is not exactly screaming "worth your time, please do it!!. And yeah the GC affiliation has to go out, just put everyone in the same group/alliance random regardless of what your GC allegiance is.

PvP... is not fun. At least, not here in FFXIV. That's why there are so few people queueing.

Frontlines genuinely sounded interesting on paper. But making the arena bigger and throwing in more people doesn't suddenly make it more interesting when the core game is the same thing. The party dynamic goes right out of the window PvP too. Tanks can't tank, healers are always the first to be targeted and DPS rule the day. A team of 8 DPS will do a better job than a classic party, and that's unfortunate. At least in FFXI PvP, tanks had an important role and, yes, could actually tank.

When I first heard of Frontlines I imagined it would be like Guild Wars 2's World vs World combat. Large scale battles with new game dynamics to get our teeth into. Maybe keeps to control or Allagan tech to acquire. We get a couple of nameless NPC mobs in the middle of a melee.

So yeah... the most obvious thing SE need to work on if they want PvP to be successful... make it FUN to play. Most people wouldn't give two hoots about the rewards as long as they're having fun battling against or with their friends.

Slaughter? Have fun dying to the ranged dps the moment you over extend. If it's not that, then its to the caster LBs that'll ruin your party.

Playing with friends? Nope. That's where the GC restrictions come in.

No one even wants to do wolves then either; There's no way to do matched making jsut to have fun between friends, and the reward is next to nothing when compared to frontlines.

I had dreams of an ADS mount, and they were crushed the moment it was delegated to frontline wins.

I dunno... maybe fill the ranks with npcs like in chocobo racing? The long queue time and having to bother with new skills/not being able to use regular skills keeps me out. ><

As far as lore was concerned, it was more or less in process of being abolished at the end of 2.4.... something that was never followed up on; and they instead introduced slaughter because everyone knows that's a heck lot more civilized than maintaining strategic Allagan buildings.

I have been two weeks already trying to get Slaughterhouse tittle, having 990+ kills...

So.... The reason? Now I can only play weekends, and, trust me, I CAN'T ENTER A DAMN PVP MATCH in weekend...I spend most of saturday with roulettes and the cursed quest of CT-ST-WoD and crafting stuff to be selling during week... And then goes sunday and... nothing, nothing, nothing...

It becomes worse when 2 hours and you didn't get in, so you realize... "I rather do zodiac dungeons, at least I'm doing something..."

To summarize it in one phrase...

It kills me to can't kill.

PS: In chaos data center, the only times I noticed the queue to be acceptable was around 14:00 - 17:00 GMT... DURING THE WEEK... Seems to not apply to weekends... Aside of that magic time where you enter in 15-20 min or even less.... It's a matter of hours.

More incentives to PvP, give triple trial cards or something for those crazy weirdos that want all the cards no matter how and can afford the time for it... We want free kills also.

Honestly I came here to see how long the rant really was, wasn't disappointed. But as for PvP here are 4 things that need to happen IMO
    1. Drop the GC requirement for Frontlines, it was a cool idea for story purposes but when you have to rely on always having 3 teams from 3 different GCs queue up it just doesn't work that well.

    2. Make Frontlines slaughter 8v8v8 or 16v16v16 only, do not include 24v24v24, at that size it kinda breaks away from the point and it just becomes nothing but a BLM spamfest or any range for that matter. It makes it significantly more challenging for melee DD to be effective when the matches are of that size, is it impossible for melee DD to do well there? No but it is more difficult than it should be compared to the ranged DD.

    3. Make Frontlines secure 16v16v16 or 24v24v24 only, having an 8v8v8 queue for secure feels pretty helpless due to the size of the map and not as enjoyable even with the reduced number of bases to secure.

    4. Incentivize Wolves Den with something more than what is offered from Frontlines. It should be extremely competitive and gear should matter when going in there. I know people hate making the WoW comparison but what they did with their Arena was a good idea. Having seasons, rewards for top placement, rankings, and so on. You don't need to do the same thing but something similar I imagine would be very welcome to those who really enjoy PvP.
Once again these are just my opinions on the matter. Currently I'm rank 45 with the Maelstrom, first 25 levels were earned in the Wolves Den and the last 20 in Frontlines.

Surely for the GC thing they could just make the flags look right for me.

    Immortal Flames see IF flags
    Twin Adders see TA flags
    Maelstrom see M flags
Teams are actually thrown together randomly.
So long as no one shouts "For the Immortal Flames" the illusion holds .

Edit: also being a tank should count for something. Our tank stances should apply to allies near us, or building enmity on someone should reduce the damage they do to other players while we grow an ever brighter and angrier red colour until they feel they have to focus on us.
