    "Burst" dps refers to a very short period of time. It is for things like "oh adds just spawned how quick can i kill them?" or "Trick Attack (or some other brief window) is up, how much dps can I pump out in 10 sec?"

    "Burst" dps does not and has never referred to a length of time remotely approaching 3 mins.

    (This is just general MMO knowledge)
