$40!? Who the hell is pricing this? I would gladly spend $20-30 on it, but $40? That's a brand new game price. This isn't a new game, it's an expansion of an old one.
Pricing seems normal, though a cardboard sleeve is pretty ghetto imo that and I'd also rather have an OST than trailers or some other media that isn't already readily accessible (developer making of, special interviews, "Yoshida's guide to coil" something). Besides that, Japan pays the same as NA and gets more is a little meh.. then you have EU pricing and I laugh because its that sad XD.
Quality should be the same, and the price approximately the same as well (15,000 is ~ to $ price). Otherwise meh, I wasn't too surprised - if what SE says is accurate, that the expansion is about the same amount of content as ARR's release, then I think that fairly warrants a near new game price.

Name one mainstream MMO with an expansion that is less than $40 with content that comes close to what HW is adding.
I can name at least three games with expansions priced at or above $40:
EQ1
EQ2
WoW
GW2 will as well, and all of GW1's cost about $50.
And that's before considering none of these games have added THREE new classes in a single expansion in addition to a new race, on top of huge new maps.
Brand new games were 60$, last I checked. 70$ in some places.
40$ for an expansion is completely reasonable.
"I'm OK. This rock broke my fall."
I actually kind of hoping you wrote that to play devil's advocate. You would be hard pressed to find a brand new game priced so low at 40. US$59.99 is typically the norm with some variation. $40 dollars for an MMO expansion is very reasonable.
$40 seems about on point. If I recall FFXI expansions were $30, but it's been nearly 10 years since I bought one of those and most games retailed for $50 at that time. Now most games are $60 and Heavensward, even if they are overestimating the content, will definitely have a lot more to do than most $60 games (granted there is also the sub). Sure they make some money selling the expansions, why shouldn't they? But it's not marked up too much. The CE on the other hand, well everyone knows that's primarily to show your support and give them some more money. If all you actually wanted was a dragon figurine, well, you have the internet obviously.
Can anyone tell me the price for ff11 expansions please?,cause I believe adoulin expansion was only 29.99, and I was a huge ff11 player and I never spent that much for just one expansion in ff11. Just saying 50 bucks for a expansion with only 2 new jobs, heavenward better give off the wow im hooked effect cause recently I haven't been feeling that from 14 like I did in ff11.
Nothing surprises a wise Au Ra がおがおぉ~ Link.
